I had a little bit of time on Sunday so I started this portrait. I wanted to make something with softer edges (something I still struggle with). It's not really done. I want to come up with a neat sci-fi angle to it like perhaps a bionic chip or device on the side of her face, or maybe even make her some type of alien. I have a lot of commercial projects to get back to, so I welcome any further ideas until I can pick it back up and finish it.________________________________
Done in photoshop. About 6 hours. No tracing or over-painting. This is not a photo manipulation.
Very loose ref on the face was used (and I even glanced at pics of Patric Stewart- lol). Edit: I looked at this- [link] to begin with as I liked the cold stare but as with any ref I use I made it my own and used it only as a starting point. No, the face was not referenced off of Natalie Portman.

I think it's pretty powerful as it is, the organicness of the picture gives a fantastic feel.
Maybe if you were to add something sci-fi-y, add tubing/wires to her neck? And/or a bionic eye?

Doesn't look like Natalie Portman to me. I really love that gold stare as well. Perhaps you could make her some sort of alien and really focus on the eyes? I feel her eyes and lips and ears are really the best features so I'd really focus on them if you were to make her an alien.

But really, really awesome artwork. I love the colors, and her expression makes me want to keep staring at her forever. Her eyes is beautiful. I also love how nicely the skin is textured :3

I honestly didn't even think of Natalie Portman when I looked at this. I think the whole alien thing would be cool. Maybe some faint purple scaling on her head and shoulders would be a great accent to the picture.

Well, I don't know what to do about that really. I had her with hair originally but the bald look goes with the sci-fi feel I want.

I think the point comes across nicely already, but maybe if you really want to add something...It should be subtle? Like maybe a faded barcode on her forehead, or a small chip somewhere

i think some bionic parts glistening under the skin in the shape of scars would be kinda neat. like a cyborg with her flesh ripped in and torn or burned in shapes that reveal her innerself.
that might be really overused though

Nope, not at all. My husband said it kind of looked like her too, but it's just your generic female face in a frontal view. I'll see if I can find the pic I looked off of online... Thanks though.
