Maybe it's not really related to your tutorial, but I'm wondering how to make a right count of pixels?

There isn't really a "right" count when you pixel draw. It depends on what you are drawing and how big you want it to be. For example the tiniest pixel heart would be 3 pixels.

GIMP is a free art program very similar to photoshop that you can do this on, and probably easier. [you can zoom so much on GIMP, it's amazing]
but yeah, it's free and very useful for people who can't afford PS. ^^

This is Photoshop Cs3. But it is very possible to do this in paint too. ^^ It would just be more tedious.
