Description
Deep down in Special Projects, the heavy steel doors slowly parted to the armory. June-La entered, Kiara-Ne and Bullet close behind her. The two officers seemed slightly uncomfortable being together, but June-La didn't notice, she was focused on the display in front of her. Two experimental suits of armor stood there. June-La turned to look at her companions.
"Here they are," she said.
Kiara-Ne recognized the smaller red suit. She had used it once before in a trial mission, during which it had been heavily damaged. But as Kiara-Ne looked on, she could see it had since been repaired and improved.
"Mk I Power Armor," June-La said as though reading Kiara-Ne's mind. "Currently outfitted with a Series 2 'Bunker Buster' las-cannon on the right arm, and mini missile launchers recessed in the thigh armor plating. The systems have been configured for your bios, Kiara."
June-La glanced at Bullet and smiled.
"And for you, Lieutenant," she continued, "the Mk II, complete with back rigged assault cannon on a swivel mount with 360 degree range. Integrated targeting system. Basically, Bullet, if you can see it, you can shoot it. It also has targeting memory so you can lock on, and then turn your attention to the next threat while still engaging the original target."
Bullet raised an eyebrow skeptically.
"Impressive," he said
June-La nodded excitedly.
"You also have a wrist mounted K42 range las-gun, and like Kiara's suit, you have launchers in your thigh armor."
Kiara-Ne ran a hand over her suit, and looked at June-La.
"This is all very well and good, June, but why us? And why now?"
June-La chewed her bottom lip for a moment, wondering how much she could tell the two officers.
"Mary has a mission for you both," June-La said. "Very important."
June-La looked Kiara-Ne and Bullet in the eyes, her voice taking on a serious tone.
"It's our race. We might have found them..."
