You have a very cool shading style, I love it I'm trying to work on my shading, but I just can't do it right, like do you shade in black or just a darker color than your base? (like a tan base, and shade with dark brown?)

I do have a question, though... How do you create the look of shine? I have trouble with that.

That can be done by going over the lightest shade with white colored pencil.

That sure is useful o3o However, my pencils are watercolor ones, so blending doesn't work too well with them XD Which pencils do you use?
Thank you! <3

Ahh, watercolor... I never could master them. All the more to ya.
Actually, I use Prismacolor colored pencils -- premier version has a thicker, smooth lead, and the verithin variety are great for details.

I tried once. The drawing was done and purdy, but when I tried putting the pupil on the dragoness's eye, the black ink, instead of leaving only a tiny little drip on the eye, spread all over the whole eye @___@ It ruined the whole drawing! I was kinda scarred after that and never really tried using watercolor again 'XDD
Ah, Prismacolors *-* I've always wanted them! I don't think they sell it on my country, tho XD
One day I shall have them, tho! ΓΉ.uv

See, even if I read this, and follow it to the dot, I don't think I could ever get the same result as you get
I think I'll stick to clothing...

Welcome to my world with humans. Last year for Chritmas, Alex got me this HUGE, expensiiive manga drawing how-to book, with even instructions on how to color in photoshop, and yet, I look at it and go, "eh... I shall never draw Night! NEVAR!"

You should still try
I had nobody/no books teach me anything xD I've learned all of this skill (or lack of) by myself 83

I still haven't figured out how to draw the fur so that I can color. I can't flow the fur either, though I found some things out the hard way about paper...grr. Great tutorial

lol It's hard to find the flow of fur. I generally curve it in a C way (or a backwards C, depending on which way the head is facing).

Ahh, thank you for making this <3
I've always admired the way you colour traditionally, it always turns out swo perfect, and never really looks traditional, more 3D haha ^^
Thanks again, I'm sure this will be very helpful to me <33

My pleasure! I'm really glad if I can help someone understand the complex nature of traditional art.
