Description
The Villain and the Heroine of an old sci-fi story that I left mostly underdeveloped. The villain however is a character that I really enjoyed so I decided that perhaps I should give it a try.
The story was inspired by No Man’s sky and the Outer worlds ( the last one was a bundle of wasted potential in my opinion).
Our story begins in a desolate space station, where our protagonist works as a janitor.
I haven’t given her a name yet, but I wanted her to be a bit more humanoid in order for her to be more relatable, although her race has a mindset quite different from humans.
As a species we are primarily selfish and greedy ( to certain extent of course, but we can’t deny we all are this way even in small proportions and surpassing them can be quite difficult) her species however is cowardly and passive, accepting their condition, fearing change in all of its forms.
So you can imagine how terrifying it would be for her if something happened that completely destroyed her life, and guess what happens…..
The Villain is Galacto an artificial intelligence created by humanity many years ago which has gone rogue, enslaved humanity and became a flamboyant overpowered space conqueror.
I imagined that every time he shows up an unenthusiastic speaker will present him with excessively long titles like “Chosen Emperor of the Universe, Highest intelligence to ever exist, Innovative artistic genius….” only to then devolve in the most absurd titles imaginable like: “Revolutionizer of The Whip and Nae Nae, Undefeated champion of Boccia, Only Holder of Reddit Diamond…”
I just love the idea of this overpowered being acting like a toxic influencer only to then to lose his cool and start a Crimson 1 style meltdown whenever someone object to anything he says. As you probably guessed the main inspiration for his color palette was Galactus, but I was also influenced by the Pokémon Regighigas
Galacto would come on to the space station asking the mercenaries that work there to submit to them, going on a rampage when they refuse to obey and dare to insult “His Drip”.
Our protagonist will manage to escape in the only safe pod intact, seeing all of her loved one perish.
Galacto actually has his own army, but mostly has it for show or because he doesn’t have time to deal with “Freedom fighting nerds” himself.
Our heroine will float in the vacuum of space for days until she comes in contact with something that resembles a globe of light
Whatever it is, it fuses with her and she passes out.
She will later wake up in an abandoned spaceship, after being rescued by an old human scientist that lived in a human colony that doesn’t know the fate of their home world. The colony however is controlled by a corporative regime and the scientist, discovering that the protagonist had gained the ability to emit cosmic energy, propose her to help him eradicate the regime and give the people the freedom they deserve.
I think it’s interesting having a character like this in such a scenario because she’s is the perfect submissive citizen that the regime wants, but she’s so passive that ends up accepting the scientist offer.
Naturally she’ll eventually abandoned her nature, developing her own personality while meeting new people, becoming captain of a ship, discover new worlds and eventually becoming strong enough to fight Galacto before he takes over the universe and her new home.
Naturally, being the narcissistic prick that he is, Galacto will certainly send his minions to deal with what he sees as just a small inconvenience.
