Description
...or IBL Experiment Number 2....The is the second scene I've done using my new IBL code. The results are getting better. I found and corrected problem with lights being weighted to heavily to the top side.

The lighting looks natural and uniform, great job! I still didn't find my way through IBL so far, especially when Poser 5 doesn't support it.

It may be a bit of a challange, but since light files for poser are text files, I should be able to modify the code and make it work for poser 4, 5, or 6. The tricky part is going to be taking the 400 or so lights the code generates and mapping those down to 20 or so.
Povray doesn't support "blurred" edges on point and parallel light sources, hence, lots of lights are required to get smooth edges.
I find that poser 6's IBL is not all it is cracked up to be. For whatever reason, shadows just completely get trashed when using it. I would have had the same problem except that I do some processing on the image to create some accent lights that force shadows into the scene.

I know what you mean about the shadows. I even tried to create the rendered shadows separately (export shadow map only) and then combine the results in postwork later on, but somehow Poser creates slightly different pictures and I can't match them together. That's because I used IBL for the main render and then disabled it for producing the shadows, but then the final parts don't match...

Ahw Atleast, like I asked for in that note I send you, a mini-tut on how you make your renders, e.g. from Poser/DAZ|Studio, to finished pic

Wow! She looks great. Hair and face are excellent. Looks like the IBL image is some abstract pattern?? I like the funky background pattterns you've been making too.

Actually, the donor image for the IBL lighting was done by . The picture has a lot of earth tones to it, so it made a nice piece for creating lights.

The outfit is free from BVH at planetvixens. (well, the gloves aren't...) I think he must have been watching the fifth element when he made it.

I don't think that is any worse than my comment about the lighting being "top heavy". Anyway, I don't make clothing (yet). I do make support objects from time to time and I also tend to take a lot of pieces from different outfits and make them look like they came from the same outfit by creating textures and materials that match.
