Description
Given the bad outcome of the last piece I was working on (and never posted), I made myself feel better by doing something I have wanted to do for a long time. This piece is a Cel render. It was created by special 3D rendering techniques. Unfortunately, there aren't any Fanart sections in any of the 3D areas, so I'm posting it here.
I wanted to do something different with the wings. I figure if the movie can have an angel coming out of the back, I can have wings coming out of the forearms.
The hair is actually in a pony tail. someday, I will have to find a different model to give some width to it.

Very nice image I like the composition and the overall cel rendering is very impressive.

Yay - Beldandy! I'm still collecting the Manga over here though I really miss the full-color comic. I haven't seen the movie - heard it wasn't very good so I'm hiding from it. I've been considering trying a fanart of her myself - but I'd never get the costuming right.

Wow, this render is great! (BelBel rules =3)
The program you're using for the rendering (forgot the name) seems to be really good at rendering toon images. Is toon rendering easy to do in that program, or is it quite hard to do.

Belbel works out pretty good for this kind of work.
Using Megapov has some advantages, but it is not the easiest to use though. It is funny you mention this, I am in the process of writing a tutorial and getting ready to release the animeshaders for it.

I am always happy when someone mistakes these for drawings. Despite it's appearance, this really is a 3D render. I had some of these that got kicked out of the 3D area once because the gallery director also thought they were line art.

The background design is nice, but the lower part of the costume design needs some more flare to it, it's kind of... sorry... blandish somehow, either that or it needs some kind of ruffled cloth effect, as it throws the pic a bit out of balance. other than that, nice job. I forgot you were a 3D artist when I looked, I thought it was line art for a minute.
And 3D probably lacks fan art since most 3D artists don't do fan art as far as I can tell, whereas most fan artists pencil.

Thanks! I spent some time working with the colors and clothing textures in an attempt to recreate the feel of the robes she normally wears.

Hey, that's a great celshading effect you've got here! I went through the same problems when I tried my own fanart - there is no category to post fanart here at the 3D section! And guess what? A number of people became two massacre me for posting things at the wrong category, like if I were trying to steal a character design or something.

To bad really. I wish there was a fan art section in the 3D stuff. Maybe someday.
Nobody has complained yet.

Very cool Belldandy! I'm an old fan of the OMG manga from way back. Great job! As many weird things go on in OMG, wings out of the forearms are peanuts in comparison! LOLz

I love the cel render job you have done. Im suprised you didnt do a new render with your light source software that you worked so hard on but seeing as how you were sick of the documentation I can see why. Good job as always and I love the job as always.

It is a bit of a strange thing, but in many ways I enjoys ding these more than the other renders. In its own way, these are just as, if not more, technically challenging.

Of course, they have that aspect of cel rendering that normal 3D doesnt have. Besides you have use different techniques with these than you do with the your normal renders.
