Description Yet another in the DnD series. (Still too many to goooooo......) This is Tori, a holy elven cleric ready to beat down the undead with her mace of disruption.
As a side note, the glow on the mace is not postwork.

Nope. The cloth is the result of several simulations.

That looks pretty cool, what have you used for the fabric?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lokai2000 In reply to arien [2006-01-09 01:58:47 +0000 UTC]

It is just a simple rectangular mesh run through a cloth simulation.

Wonderfully done like all of your other works. I really enjoy these textures and the backdrop is great. Is that something you made?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lokai2000 In reply to MistressWit [2006-01-06 03:51:20 +0000 UTC]

The background was *sorta* made by me. I used Apophysis in a random batch mode. This fractal was one of the results. The armor texture was one of the reject materials I created for a paladin piece I did earlier. (Pays to keep everything you create sitting around!)

I wanted the armor to have more of a "cast" feel than polished.

I just have to say that an Elf Cleric is not that good of a race/class combo. Just my two cp.

Wow, that's just plain AWESOME. My only problem is that she's not reflecting herself in her armor, probably because you're using mapped reflections instead of raytracing, and that the armor joints are ribbed, probably because you've put in a simple line bump map. Real armor was multi-layered, such that a suit of full plate would have padding, leather, and chain under everything, with just a little plate on top. Take a look at the PHB's pics of armor for reference.

Lokai2000 In reply to Thomar [2006-01-06 01:51:16 +0000 UTC]

Povray doesn't support reflection maps. I can see her head reflected in the armor.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

Thomar In reply to Thomar [2006-01-06 00:18:03 +0000 UTC]

Sorry, I can see that her face is reflected, just not the armor reflecting itself.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Thisstuffinside In reply to Thomar [2006-01-06 01:18:18 +0000 UTC]

the armour does reflect itself, if you look at the angle from the main light source of the character ( the point light ) and judge the angle you can see the mace and the arm in the thigh section of the armor. As for the whole armor anatomy thing, unless i was modeling the clothing myself i would not want to spent hours in the material room applying multiple bump maps to achieve a look which 9 out of 10 people would not notice anyway.

Thomar In reply to Thisstuffinside [2006-01-06 03:40:58 +0000 UTC]

Heh. I teach this sort of stuff, and that's the kind of thing I notice (I'm also generally picky in that respect).

And now that I look at it more closely, she also doesn't have the elven features. There's that one chart in the beginning of the PHB Races chapter that shows eye and ear keystones for humans, half-elves, and elves.

Still, it's D&D!

ilektriksky In reply to Thomar [2006-09-13 16:08:21 +0000 UTC]

You can see some elven features. If you look on the right side of her head you can make out a distinct elven ear, the other must simply be covered by hair/veil. As for the eyes.....well not sure what qualifies for elven eyes, but you dont see too many humans with yellow eyes.

You know... it annoys me as well.
It was supposed to be behind the front armor plate. Call me lazy, I didn't feel like re-running the cloth simulation.
