Description
I'm sure a little girl and a dragon with a magic hat have lots of stories. I suspect these stories don't always have a happy ending.Ever since I did the cel render at this link [link] I've wanted to redo the scene as a regular 3D render.
Some things changed along the way though..... The dragon definitely became more menacing looking.

The dragon looks fantastic, and you've done a great job with the background and the way things fade into the distance, but the girl's expression seems very off. The dragon has presence and character, but the girl seems like she may as well be a plastic doll. Just the face though, the dress, as has been said, looks great.

Actually, I won't argue with you about the girl. This piece is a couple of years old and I hadn't quite got the hang of expresions at the time. Of all the pieces in my gallery, I was surpised this one got a DD. But I am also happy that Damaged927 took the time to notice the little details in the scene as they took a long time to work in.

It came out very excellent!!! One thing *I* would change are the eyes of the girl, they are pointing... somewhere...? Apart from that very very nice!!!

Hehe! Can't help but think that the cell shading suited this couple better... but the dragon is *way* cooler! LOL! Even if it has a kind of comical look with this hat on (at least to me), it looks deliciously grim in that pose!!! Great work!!

that is is frickin fantastic, usualy that dragon texture looks naff but you have made it look spectacular, and the girl well, what can i say, aiko with pigtails and a gothic dress, u cant go wrong, but you will probably make something that does not look half as good as the girl in this picture, amazing job

Hey, this came out very nice, love the colors you used!
Aiko's hand poses look a little odd, but well, Aiko is always a tough cookie!
The background look awesome, nice touch with the pinky sky!

Heh, heh! The sky was origianlly going to be red, but I forgot about a blue gradient I had for a transition effect. This combined with the lighting caused the sky to go pink/purple. I liked the effect, so I left it. Most of the background was recycled from another piece. I felt a little guilty about that, but it worked much better in this scene than it did in the original piece I did it for.
As for her hands, I sometimes like a little imperfection in art. Tends not to make things feel so sterile.

The hat certainly changes the whole feel of the scene doesn't it? I almost put in a treasure chest instead when I found the hat sitting in my library.

i definitely prefer the 3D rendered version--a lott because of the darker overtones in the characters, but also because of atmospheric effects and lighting
