No school.... self taught. This figure in this piece is actually Aiko3. I have finally got to the point that I am making my own figure for use. Doing it on my own has been tough though. There is a link to the project on my front page. I just recently got the figure uv mapped and I am working on the rigging right now.

How could they not? I'm taken aback just by the crinkles on the bows! Did you render this in Poser? C4D? What?? WHAT IS YOUR SECRET!!!!??? heehehehehe

I do all (well most...) of the modeling in Poser. I then use Poseray to convert the files to Povray format and then use Povray to render the images. (I got sooooooo tired of Firefly crashing on me all the time....) I've gotten so many questions about this, I've been thinking about adding journal entry describing the whole process.

I've heard so much about Povray, how does it work? My computer can't run Firefly renders most of the time, I always end up using the P4 rendering engine, and I hate it.

Povray is a pure render engine. The files it uses are text based. This makes it easy to modify, change, etc... Povray is far more memory efficient than firefly. On the down side, creating textures can be a somewhat daunting task. Several tools exist out there that help with this. I have yet to try any of them out. Tools also exist to set up render farms using Povray. (and it's all free!)

Poseray is a tool that converts different 3D file formats. It also has some other features like mesh smoothing and HDRI support.
