Description Well, I'm sure this full of errors and other problems. To be honest, I am sick of looking at it.

I finally got around to writing up how I use poser and Megapov to create Cel Renders.

This tutorial also includes inking and shader libraries as well.

---------------------------------------------
Oh crap! I uploaded the wrong file! Let's try this again.

This is a great tutorial, but I have one problem. How do you import the OBJ scene into Povray to get the INI files. On Page 11 of your tutorial thee is no quick indication on how to do this. I've scanned the Povray help files, but it says nothing about Obj scenes. Any help is appreciated.

Sorry about not going into detail for this, but the Poseray tool has a complete and seperate tutorial for doing the actual import/conversion to Povray format. It can be found here ([link] ). The actual number of steps is somewhat involved and I didn't want to repeat that document.

Something to keep in mind though is that Poseray changed the scaling of the geometry files it creates. This changed in version 3.12 (I think). The new geometry sizes are much larger. The setting for the inking will no longer apply. You will have to set the depth setting to something very large (i.e. like 50 or 100) to prevent the entire scene from rendering black now.

Ah, thx bro. I figured it out eventually. The link will help tho.
So on my other question... concerning the color.inc not loading. Did you know that the entire Internet only has a resolution for MAC users. TT_TT

That might be a typo.... It should be colors.inc.

You can always define your own resolutions for Povray.
I know I said to ignore the .ini file that was created by poseray, but if you look in it you will find some parameters like +W and +H. These set the width and height of the output image. You can also set the output type, input files, output file, etc... in the .ini file. You run the .ini file instead of the .pov file to make use of those settings.

(You can also add your own resolutions to render.inc as well..)

Egh, ignore my previous post... I be a Nub. Still Megapov is complaining about color.inc file it cannot load. Hmmm, any ideas?

I get this error when including animeshaders.inc with the latest version of Pov-Ray and MegaPOV and attempting to render:

Parse Error: Illegal character in input file, value is fffffff93 (I have no idea what that is)

It had to do with copying and pasting the line straight from the pdf, replacing the quotation marks fixes it.

I sometimes do models in 3DSMax, but most of the time I get models from places like DAZ or Content Paradise or Renderosity or RDNA or (Well you should get the picture....)

These models are imported into Poser or DAZ|Studio for manipulation.

Wow!!! I read the pdf (fast) Fascinating. I never checked this out before at all. The animeshaders.inc blew me away. I had no idea that it was done with macros (gotta look at those macros some more). Okay, well, now I have a much better appreciation for your cel renders. Anyway, I will definitely try this... Busy, busy, so maybe not for a couple of weeks. Thanks for making this tutorial. I like the disclaimer at the bottom of the pages.

Macros seemed like the best way to make the nodes usable for everybody. I didn't get time to add all the features I wanted, but there is always the next version.
