Description
or maybe it should be called "Caustics Gone Wild"My second experiment using caustics in Povray. The glass material took a long time to get the way I like. It reminds me of those glass marbles I used to find on remote railroad tracks. When the a small test render completed, it just blew my mind. Don't even ask how long the final render took.
As a side note, I got the chess pieces from a povray include file. They were originally done by a gentlemen named Ville Saari.
Character is DAZ's Aiko3 (Lynx). Yada, yada, yada.....

Wow, your caustics are absolutely fantastic! Really - I've played with caustics a bit and it is hard to get a good effect. Its interesting, in the clothing, you can see the mesh - looks great in glass. I read the other comments here - now I am thinking it would be interesting to render a head in glass, just to see what it would look like probably be weird looking.

Thanks!
The meshes in the clothing were on purpose. I wanted them to look like facets cut into the surface. It worked better than I would have hoped. It also caused the numerous little rainbows on the floor. I disabled the mesh smoothing for the dress to achieve the effect.
As for the head.... The inner mouth, teeth, eyeballs , etc... look really bad in glass.
Given the way povray does caustics, I can't make these materials transparent to get rid of them. The polygons have to be removed from the mesh. I just didn't have the patience for this.

Ha, yeah, removing the polygons will make you into a madman way before you are done. I tried it once, and gave up. I wish there was a way to get rid of them in Poser. Maybe there is, I'm pretty new with Poser. Anyway, I am always glad to find someone on Deviantart using POV-Ray (especially with Poser too!)

I tried this originally. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a way to make the tongue, inner mouth, teeth, etcc.. from turning to glass. This was a side effect of how Povray creates glass materials.
