Description Ok... I haven't given up on creating a new figure.... I am starting to get the hang of the rigging stuff, but it is going slowly.

I am particularly happy so far in the fact that I modeled *every* object in this scene. All of the modeling and uv_mapping was done in wings3D. The rigging is being done in Poser.

I'm still having problem with getting the fingers correct and I have a weird problem that if I delete the figure, poser crashes..... (WTF?)

BTW: She still doesn't have a name....

Well she looks very good here, though I can just imagine the fun of the hands.

I don't know why, but she seems like a "Miyu" to me. Nice job!

Very cool. I haven't been brave enough yet to try rigging a character I've modeled, so I give you lots of credit!

poser's rigging "room" is very unstable. In fact, it's the least stable "room".

looks great i'm impressed. i gave up trying to rig anything in poser.

Lots of luck with the fingers. I can make her some mittens.

WOWWWWEEEE! Damn, I'm so HAPPY to have introduced you to Wings3d! My own learning curve had a stroke in it last year, but even so....I might never have that level of talent!

I feel sort of like Obi-Wan talking to Annakin,"You'll be a much greater Jedi than I ever was."

Just don't turn to the darkside, or stuff like that. LOLOLOLOL

Fingers are the great pain of all poserdom, going from the experts. The JP's are the real tripping point of Poser's set-up room. They are not really common sense in some points.

To set up a full figure in the set-up room just makes me

She's looking really good! Please don't give up on her.

(My son and husband vote for Gi'Ku as a name--Kainan -my 3-year-old - used to call everything "geeku" when he was learning to talk.) LOL

I am actually looking for some Japanese name that is a derivative of block or cube as she is till called cube01 in the modeler I am using.

The funning thing is that there is a Japanese word called Gai'ku that means something roughly like a city block. Sounds very similar to Gi'Ku.

Looking good! It's really amazing the lack of recognition we get for creating full models from scratch - that's just the way it is with the 3D media. - people just take things for granted.

If Poser crashes with your figure, chances are there is something wrong with the CR2 or the OBJ itself. The CR2 is organized in a hierarchical tree, and if something is wrong Poser may crash when trying to allocate resources or free them when you delete the figure.

Try importing the OBJ directly into Poser as a prop and the delete it. If Poser crashes you will know the OBJ needs fixing. If not, then it must be the CR2. ^^

Yeah, poser was adding some strange props. I can understand the center of mass/gravity, but the RHAND camera and SETUP4 props were just weird. Regardless, none of these props had a geometry associated with them. I think this is what was crashing poser when I would delete a figure. I removed these "extras" from the CR2 file and poser no longer crashes when I delete the figure.

RHAND was probably added because Poser CR2s are case-sensitive and you might have case mismatch with that body part when you modeled it. SETUP4 is a typical name created by Poser when you leave the Setup Room and there was geometry pieces not associated with any body group. In those cases Poser will automatically create a group with names like that, and your model might spike out when posed. This is one reason why I do all of my grouping in 3DSMAX instead of Poser, because it gives me much more control over polygon selections. That's what I think happened with your model. ^^

Oh, I like seeing the process of your works. Its really interesting, since I've always wondered how ya do all of this amazing stuff.
She's looking great so far, and that's really impressive that you modeled everything. As for a name... Would something Japanese be too cliche? XD

Good job there I was just trying to do something new in hexagon and... applying UV to it... it crasharioonied! I may well try wings 3d myself as I've been frustrated by hexagon's limitations.

Wings appears to be a pretty primitive tool at first... but I have been really surprised what you can do in it. It definitely lacks some features of more advanced tools, but things just seem to work better for me. A bonus form me is that it runs under windows and Linux. (Although, I have had serious problems running it on machines with Intel graphics chips.)
