Description This is just one of those images to show that, yes, I really do model stuff in 3D from time-to-time.

The figure in the image is part of MayaX's AnimeDoll. What I am working on is the hair. It is not close to being complete yet, but I am happy with how it is progressing.

I just recently started using Wings3D and I was looking for something to try to model. I have had trouble finding Animestyle hair, so I decided to model one.

Compared to 3DSMax (Version 5 anyway), I have just been blown away how much easier it is to do subdivision modeling in Wings3D. Despite being free and having an apparently simple interface, it is one really powerful tool.

Update:
The final hair model can be seen here.

heh i love Wings 3D. It was one of the first programs I was taught...the interface is so incredibly easy to use, but you can still produce some amazing stuff! >> i really wish my megaman model didn't get deleted...oh well, i shall make more.

it's really nice. ^^ where do you find the models for wings 3d (though i haven't really 'looked')? We were never allowed to use models in class..would've been soooo much easier. ^^

Well... the hair started as a sphere primitive.

If you are talking about the bust of AnimeDoll, I exported a .obj file from poser and imported it into wings 3D. Models are available everywhere.. DAZ3D, Renderosity, RuntimeDNA, etc...

I agree with your comment about wings 3D. My first impression was.. "Oh no. This program is going to be way to simplistic to do what I want..." I was really surprised by what you can do with it and how intuitive the user interface becomes.

very nice - when are you going to start giving it away for free (hint hint!!!)

I will have to try this tool - as of now I'm still using Anim8tor and it's...a pain in the ass, to say the least.

I finished the geometry late last night. Now I just have to add 50 billion morph targets to make it usable....

I am thinking about making it a freebie, but I will probably be releasing it over at AGStudios. (Haven't decided yet...)

Very very nice. Im trying to take my wants one step at a time. First I get to finish up this commission for my cousin, then I get to learn flash actionscript, then dreamweaver, then i get to get a domain name so that i can use my new knowledge of flash actionscript and html to create a dynamic art portfolio webpage then from there its most likely lots of work on my shading/sketching and other art skills in that area. I think by then we will both be free to do a collab which is where i plan on working on 3D modeling, though its part of the class that im taking now. I think we do 3D modeling for the next month or so.

Cant wait to work with you on a collab of some sort, 3D modeling or not.

I keep telling people to be exposed to as many tools as possible, so that one day they will find the right one that works for them.

Very nice so far! Anyone who has any experience in 3d modeling and character rigging should know how diffcult and time consuming the project it! ^^ great work!
