Description
Just another teaser. I'm not finished yet. This is a character inspired by the silver armored Viera in Final Fantasy XII. This one is named Vein.
My first conforming figure modeling is coming along. Things are progressing forward. I think I am going to have to do some work yet on the toe claws and shoes. I'm not so happy with the hair texture either. The base figure is Aiko3. (Yes.. that's Aiko...)
The leg/arm bracers, ring shaped ornaments, and toe claws where modeled in 3DSMax5.0. The ears are modified "bucky chucky' rabit ears. The remaining pieces come from various other outfits.

No, just about half of the armor. I did get creative with the character morphs though.

Wow, it looks excellent so far. That's a LOT of work! I like the toe claws and the concentric circle ornaments too. I also like the combination of the regualr silver and the baby blue silver. Nice! So, how hard is it to get it to conform? You have me almost wanting to try this, maybe something simple first...

You are probably one of the few that can appreciate this. The lights in this scene are a R1 set.
Simcloth has saved me a LOT of time. It allows me to take a tube and shrink-wrap it around a mesh. Then I can slice, dice, and modify to my heart's content.
The conforming part has had its complications.
The viera have stretched legs, arms, and necks. This makes things a bit harder. (a LOT harder...)
In reality, I pretty much cheated though. (Hey! I'm just starting. ). How did I cheat? I used existing .cr2 files and just changed the geometry they pointed to. As long as the obj files had the correct grouping names, they got loaded correctly. There are some headaches with names and "stray" material definitions using this method. It has worked great so far.

R1? You got guts. Simcloth sounds cool. Could you also just take a piece of her arm or leg and duplicate it and play with it, if you didn't have Simcloth?
Yes, I could imagine how the stretched out limbs could be a problem.
So, if you have some arm bands or gloves or something like that, you could use the cr2 file from them?
Oh yeah, did I mention that I like the dark to light background on this one? Maybe it's the lighting doing that? Anyway, its a dramatic effect.

Simcloth is the 3DMax equiv of the cloth room in Poser... although it is more capable in many ways.
Yep, if you have some gloves or what not you could use that cr2 file. You just have to make sure the body part you are using exisits in the file.
You can use the character mesh... but DAZ actually seems to think this is illegal or something. I did this trick for initial work to try things out, but if I ever want to give this stuff away as a freebie, I can not use any of the character mesh.

I've never had much luck with the Poser cloth room.
Well, yeah, I guess using the character mesh is copying something that isn't yours, so that makes sense. Thanks for the info Max.

Congrats on the C4D materials here! That's the kind of metal shine that Poser simply won't do. Those nails are scary!

Not C4D... This is povray.
Poser might be able to do this, but you would have to enable raytracing and true reflections in the material nodes. If you are lucky, it won't crash....

Oops, PovRay then.
I tried materials like this in Poser, but Firefly somehow introduces noise and artifacts that often forces me to go render in Vue instead.

Yep.... I just can't seem to do any serious rendering work in Poser 6. I think I am going to bite the bullet and order Poser 7 tonight.
I don't think it is going to change my current work flow, but I might hit it with a few tests. I really wish they would quit "improving" things by adding new features and just make what they have more reliable.

I don't really know what to expect from Poser 7 when it comes to rendering quality, for most updates were towards usability and performance. As we know, Poser was never meant for rendering, and that explains why it looks so outdated. But after seeing the 7 reasons, I don't think I could ever skip this new release, for the improvements are considerably more significant than any other version I had in the past since version 1 from Fractal Design. My faith on the Japanese developers seems to be paying off! Or maybe it's too early to talk about it, since we are talking about expectations by now.
Can't wait to see Vue 6 coming out, but I can't upgrade after pre-ordering P7...

Ahhh... but I didn't model all of it.
Besides, I still have a long way to go in learning how to clean up a .cr2 file..... *ack*

I'm more inclined to just share these works with the community. (I know that would just break your heart. )
I've used soooo many freebies in my works, it would be nice to give something back.

Heh heh. It may be a WIP, but it is not all that far from being complete. I still have some work on the hair. I need to redo the shoes pretty badly. I'm still debating about having a cloth hanging over the left shoulder. I've got to fix her toenails. The viera have tail ornaments. I haven't even started modeling one of these. etc. etc. etc.
As for the other pieces....
The pauldrons are from Daz's Lynx's armor.
The top is from the aiko costume festival bikini. (yamato's site)
The bikini bottom is from Ayanumi's Dreams.
The hanging cloth is from Daz's fantasty wrap. Finally, the choker is from an Eldritch freebie at renderosity.
As for poses... I'm still looking myself.
