Description
“A new day marches forth, this time it brings us the Aranea.”“Aranea; [ah-rah-nyah]”
“Aranea are intelligent arachnids and such, the species as a whole has sexual dimorphism. Moreover, not all of its members are venomous, with many of their sizes, lifespans, and abilities being variable to the type of arachnid they take after. Aranea has a major cultural role to Estea as well as many of their actions, industries, and beliefs helped shape Estea and its inhabitants to a notable extent.”
“Arachne; [Uh-rak-nee]”
“Arachne are the most recognized variant of the Aranea, with them living in forests and caves. Their average lifespan is 200 years with their maturation being at 18. Moreover, their average height for males is 6 feet and 6 inches tall or 1.98 meters with the females being much larger. Physically, Arachne have the top half of their body human, with their legs more similar to one of a spider’s. Like Beastfolk, their arms are clawlike, covered in a tough exoskeleton, alsongle their legs as well. An Arachne’s eyes are split into sets of 6 to 8, much like a spider. However their eyesight isn’t hiddered as a spider, making them more versatile. Male Arachne, although being smaller, have longer and thinner legs when compared to their female counterparts. Both Arachnes can produce silk, this silk being very strong and can easily be used as a tool for hunting, homes, or anything in between. This being that the Arachne has enough proteins to continue producing said silk. Socially, the females are regarded as higher than the males, however the knowledge of the female consuming the males in reproduction remains inconclusive. Moreover, they live in small groups or in civilization. Humans have a negative history with Arachne, where both parties were involved in hostile interactions. However, as the Humans dislike Arachne, Arachne do not dislike Humans.”
“Jorōgumo; [Jo-ro-goo-mo]”
“Are the most popular amongst the Aranea. Living solitary lives in forests and caves. They are unique to the other Aranea for many factors, for one their lifespan. Jorōgumo live twice as long as their peers, at 400 years old, with a maturation at 18, another being that this variant is female only. Their average height is 6 feet and 2 inches or 1.88 meters. Physically, Jorōgumo are the most Human-like, with their only difference being their eyes, which are in sets of 6 to 8, and eight spider-like appendages seeping from their back. Jorōgumo can skillfully use these appendages to shoot webbing and are overall additional limbs for them. Other things to note is that Jorōgumo are a female only race, with a dependence on Human males for reproduction, and meals. Moreover, they are capable of shapeshifting, and weirdly, fire breathing. Socially, they are both very intelligent and very cruel, with an ironic perception of the Humans they are so keen on, viewing them as nothing more than insects to feed on. With that said, they have a pretty bad relationship with Humans, and frankly anything Human-like, such as elves. Which I think is just uncalled for, because in sight of their intellect and ego, they can mistake elves and the like for Humans, and hunt them.”
“Anthropod; [An-throh-pod]”
“Anthropods can be found in caves, forests, grasslands, and the like. The variant as a whole being a lot more adaptable to change. Anthropods have an average lifespan of 160 years with a maturation at 18. With the average height for males being 5 feet and 6 inches, or 1.68 meters with females being larger than males. Physically, Anthropods are humanoid, however bearing 6 arms with longer and sharper hands and legs. These arms are much faster and dexterous than their human counterparts. With skin colors that can vary wildly in vibrant color. Furthermore, their eyes can range from a set of 6 to 8. Anthropods can produce webbing, however this silk shoots form their hands, rather than other places. Socially, Anthropods are much more social, living in larger groups and openly living amongst any civilization. The friendly demeanor gives them a much more positive perception and outlook on and by others.”
“Scorp; [Skawr-p]”
“Scorps are the distant cousins of the Arachne, sharing a lot of similarities. Scorps make their homes in hot climates, like the deserts and canyons of Estea. Scorps share Arachne’s average lifespan, being 200 years with a maturation at 18. Uniquely, male Scorps are slightly larger than their female counterpart, averaging at 8 feet or 2.44 meters. Physically, Scorps are incredibly similar to Arachnes, sharing their relative body type and structure. However, in place of spider similarities it is scorpion similarities, with key points being shorter legs, tough claws, and their signature stinger. With said stinger being venomous more often than not. An interesting tidbit about them is that their eyes are in the range of 5 to 8, unique to the other Aranea. Socially, they act similar to Arachne once again, living in small groups or civilizations, with a key difference being an added hostility and danger. Scorps dislike those not native or accustomed to their lifestyle, so tourism is low there.”
“The multi limbed Aranea are an interesting bunch, with some nice and others downright hostile. Nonetheless, the Aranea have a rich history and culture with a deity of popular status, Rachnera, and their innovations in textiles and efficiency. Aranea have cemented their place in history similar to Elves and Humans.”
