Description “Welcome to another day of the featuring of various creatures. Day 24 of Creature Feature brings us the Monoeyes.”
“Monoeye; [Mon-oh-ahy]”
“The Monoeye species has many variants, most of which are very different from each other. The only thing tying each one together is their signature one eye, thus the name Monoeye. Surprisingly, Monoeyes have a very quiet history, as a majority of them keep to themselves and know how to run a sustainable civilization. Regarding their signature eye, Monoeyes have great eyesight, however with unparalleled, horrible depth perception. Moreover, their eye requires the utmost maintenance, as it dries up faster and is simply more sensitive than Human eyes or eyes similar to Humans. Some variants of Monoeyes have enhanced properties to their eyes, which is pretty cool.”

“Lesser Cyclops; [Les-er Sahy-klops]”
“The most common and typical Monoeye, making their home in mild forests and grasslands, Lesser Cyclops are the most civilized out of the species, holding the most civilizations when compared to their peers. This variant has an average lifespan of 85 years, maturing at 18. With an average height of 6 feet or 1.83 meters. Physically speaking, Lesser Cyclops are near identical to regular Humans, aside from their eyes of course. Socially speaking however, Lesser Cyclops are the more sensible one by a longshot, the species as a whole is very calm and quiet, almost even introverted, but nonetheless, the fact that Lesser Cyclops have never had a war in their entire history is surprising. However, it does make them physically inept. Lesser Cyclops are indifferent to most races, having a particular enjoyment of animals and pets.”

“Greater Cyclops; [Grey-ter Sahy-klops]”
“Greater Cyclops are the most recognized variant of Monoeye, and for good reason. Greater Cyclops make their homes in the mountains and plains of Estea, with a general distaste of the heat. This variant has an average lifespan of 280 years, maturing at 18. With an average height of 25 feet or 7.62 meters. Physically speaking, Greater Cyclops are similar to Lesser Cyclops, only massive. These variants have much broader builds, and bear exceptional strength to boot. Their eyes are interesting as well, as they can detect heat signatures of nearby creatures. Socially, they are more rash and active than their Lesser variant, often being seen as mindless brutes for their tastes in living. Otherwise the Greater Cyclops prefer simple life, often gathered in small tribes or alone, rarely in civilizations, even civilizations of Lesser Monoeye. Culturally, Greater Cyclops are a major outlier in the Monoeyes. Fun Fact, Greater Cyclops are often mistaken for being in the Gigan species, although similar to Ogres, they are different.”

“Homunculus; [Huh-myung-kyu-luhs]”
“The smallest of the Monoeye, these little guys are almost only found in civilizations. Homunculi have an average lifespan of 32 years, maturing at 6. With an average height of 2 feet and 9 inches or 0.84 meters, they are even smaller than Piktra. Physically, Homunculi are built like infants, moreover, Homunculi are actually constructs in the same vein as Automatrons. Their eyes can see a grand total of 24 colors, which is...interesting to say the least. Socially inept, Homunculi are incredibly gullible, to the point where you can convince one that they are incredible hummers due to their name being Homunculus and they’ll believe it. Nonetheless, like Piktra, a majority are kept in reserves simply due to how well they work as minions. Homunculi are incredibly trusting of anyone and everyone.”

“Blackbeard; [Blak-beerd]”
“On a different topic, the Blackbeard, a rarer variant, typically appears in deep forests or caves. Blackbeards have an average lifespan of 95 years, maturing at 20. Their average height is 5 feet or 1.52 meters. Their physicalities are interesting, as their builds never change from resembling a child. As such, they resent all notion of childish behavior, being called a child, and even children themselves. It is assumed that they have the physical strength that comes with such a build too. As their true power comes from their eye, as Blackbeards have affinities towards eye magic, they can hypnotize and blind others by simply using their eye. Moreover, they are capable of firing intense beams from their eyes as well. Socially they are nearly as inept as Homunculi, as they are incredibly untrusting of most any race under the sun, as such Blackbeards are solitary creatures.”

“Gazer; [Geyzr]”
“The final variant of Monoeyes is the Gazer, a more intense variant of Blackbeard and Monoeyes as a whole. Gazers are often found in caves, deep woods, and even the Lunar biome. Gazers have an average lifespan of 120 years with a maturation at 18. Additionally their average height is 6 feet and an inch or 1.85 meters. They are physically unique to other Monoeyes, as Gazers weld multiple moving stalks that serve as additional eyes, Gazers can have anywhere between 4 to 10 stalks. Gazers can also float idly, but they cannot fly more than 4 feet off the ground however. Similar to Blackbeards, Gazers weld powerful eye magic, in more variations as well. Although their beams are weaker, the more output locations easily outweigh the lack of raw power. Moreover, their main eye can see intense groupings of magic and even cancel it temporarily. An incredible ability to weld, as a majority of Estea relies on magic as a fact of life. Socially, Gazers are incredibly lazy and unmotivated, to the benefit of the world. Gazers spend most of their days cooped up in whatever living situation they can find, sometimes mooching off others for housing. Ultimately, Gazers are indifferent to most races.”

“The Monoeyes are definitely a unique bunch, all sharing the same roots, but vastly different abilities and social behavior. Nonetheless, a relatively normal species to cover, with no major conflict or dramatic events to gather from other than Great Cyclops or Blackbeards reeking havoc due to a temper tantrum. Here’s a fun fact to end this notion off of, Monoeyes have two eyebrows, even though bearing a single eye. Moreover, they have much larger tear ducts and eye surface area, so during the spring it is impossible to see a Flora, Botan, Mycan, Bee Insectoid, or Piktra anywhere near a Monoeye, even the Greater Cyclops is vulnerable to typical allergies and pollen.”
