Blight from Okami.

Another day, another fav.

Okami is is a sadly overlooked piece of art, some are hesitant due to the unique artstyle, others are driven away by the hordes of fanboys screaming HURRDURRZELDACLONE!!", but those who stay and give it a try are really in for a treat. The artstyle, while very unique and focused on a fantasy oriental setting, is very pleasing to the eyes when you travel through the game's world and many of the animations are simply astounding (especially restoring an area and banishing the darkness around it).

Also, I did mention the game has some really creative mechanics, and I mean it, the Celestaial Brush held by the heroine has a multitude of powers (which are all gradually unlocked) with which you can interact with the environment, with varying results, and since there is no penalty, you're free to play around as much as you want. This also extends to battling, as you can use most of your abilities for offensive actions.

And yes, one could say the game is structured a lot like Zelda, not to an extent to call it ba "clone", but the similarities are there. Yet if you like games like these, you should really give it a try before shouting "clone!" and trying to stop people from playing it.

Anyways, like I said, I already drew the protagonist, Amaterasu, and while that art is old and really needs a redraw, for this project I decided to draw Blight, one of the bosses, who was a really cool character (despite no buildup), both in design and execution. The diembodied samurai armor pierced by countless arrows and blades just looks really awesome ^^
