As most of you should know by now, I'm a massive Sonic fan , so when a Dreamcast tribute project was announced, the Sonic games were the first thing that came to my mind.

It was really amusing getting back to these too, you see, nowdays people can't get enough of hating on all Sonic games, whether they're actually bad or not, but for their time, the Adventure duology were awesome titles and met with nothing but praise.

Sonic Adventure was Sonic's first true venture into 3D, and first to be actually made by Sega (many people overlook that Sonic R was made by Traveller's Tales), and was a bit of experiment, since apart from the high-speed platforming levels Sonic was known for, it had several other sections for other playable characters. Some were hit, like Knuckles' or Gamma's, others were total misses, like Amy and Big (the finishing part would make a good Chao Garden minigame, but was a terrible stage type), but at the very least you have to admit they tried something new instead of rehashing the same formula. Hell, even hubs and interacting with normal people wasn't as bad as some people claim, I mean, it was good enough for Super Mario Odyssey do the exact same thing years later after all. But still, all in all it was a great game, and Sonic's levels were awesome, plus, the battle with Perfect Chaos was one of the most epic showdowns in gaming of it's time.

As for Sonic Adventure 2, here's where things got really amazing, first of the game starts with City Escape, one of the most epic (if not THE most epic) opening levels in gaming history, which sets the bar for the whole game and really gets you pumped. This time instead of 6 completely different sections we have 3 split between 2 teams of characters, the still top-notch running levels for Sonic & Shadow, treasure hunting levels for Knuckles & Rouge (based on Knuckles' sections in Adventure 1), and run & gun sections for Tails & Eggman (based on Gamma's sections from Adventure 1), plus a random car stage for good measure. All in all, the mix worked well, and I dare say the game still holds up (it's available on psn), it has all the speedy gameplay you'd wish from a modern Sonic game, which isn't even drawn back by the non-Sonic stages which feel fast enough not to disturb the game's flow, and the second best OST in the entire series (only Generations got a better one), so definitely a game worth checking out.

As for the art itself, wanted to kinda showcase both games by including the heroes, Sonic and Shadow, as well as the final bosses, Perfect Chaos and Biolizard, as representatives of SA1 & 2 respectively, Sonic & Shadow in dynamic poses reminiscent of their action-packed stages, and Perfect Chaos & Biolizard sorta looming ominously in the background reminiscent of their dreaded presence in the games, and all that with the mighty Dreamcast in the center of it all. Took quite a lot of time, but I'm really happy with the result ^^
