Another entry for the Video Game History project at

At first this was merely a raffle prize for of the boy from Limbo, but as I tried to draw just the boy, it didn't seem right, it just didn't have the same effect as the boy in the game's unique black & white setting, so in the end, I decided to make this into a full-fledged project entry.

Since the project is about depicting key iconic scenes from games, I picked the one I think is the most powerful and really sets the tone of this game. The game is quick to show you just how fragile your character is, with death awaiting at almost every step, and the you meet him, the spider that serves as the first recurring antagonist, from the first chilling encounter where you rip 3 of his legs, right up to when you use his lifeless body as a makeshift bridge through a pit of spikes. yet every single time, he's guaranteed to make an unsettling encounter.

My favourite part however, is the second encounter, when the boy is caught in it's web and unable to move. In the demo, that is where it ends cause it kills you and you can't avoid it, it's only in the full game that it wraps you in it's web and you have a chance to escape. Even so, the sight of the enormous arachnid monster handling you like a lifeless puppet is the definitive showcase of your fragility.
