Description Hey, guess what!
I got some new nibs last week finally.

I accidentally broke my size 100 nib and stopped using the whole set shortly after, but I think I'm gonna try to get back into it.
Because, well... using nibs is fun!
So stressful, but still fun.

It was Easter and I haven't done any religious art in a long time.
So I figured, I'm Catholic (not much of one these days, but...), so why not do a biblical scene?

I tried a non-manga style this time too (^_^)
How's it look?

It's St. Mary Magdalene on Easter Sunday.
There's one huge mistake which I completely overlooked until I finished the drawing though (no, I don't meant that sloppy background, smart guy ).
The first one to catch it will get a free request from me

HINT: It's not a theological or hermeneutic thing.
It's a fact that I sort of forgot which is actually pretty important.

This is a great drawing.  I especially love the expression on Mary's face and in her hands -- it really captures the surprise and affection that I can imagine her showing toward the Lord

Also, if it is any consolation, the phrase that is often translated as "Don't touch me" could also be translated "Stop touching me" or "Stop holding on to me" or "Stop clinging to me -- so it isn't as much of a 'mistake' as you initially took it to be.

It's really nice to see this kind of style in Biblical scene; you should do more, they are very good!

Thank you very much
I used to do lots of religious themed art, but that was back when I was more devout and less apostate

I do have a few more that I want to do, though

Nicely done! The only two possible mistakes I could possibly think of are that there were two angels at the tomb when Mary went or that Jesus told Mary not to touch him...But since you said it's not a theological or hermeneutic thing, I'm not so sure o.o

Lumdrop In reply to Lady-Watson [2013-04-03 20:25:02 +0000 UTC]

Oh!
You got it!

Not the angels thing but the "touch me not" part
Congratulations

So as promised, how would you like a free request?

Hey, no problem-o.
I like helping promote OC's.

So style-wise, what would you like?

Cartoon, manga, realistic, semi-realistic?
What's yer poison?

This is gorgeous! Is the mistake that you didn't put the stamens in the second lily? Other than that I can't think what it would possibly be haha

Noooo, that was...intentional

Someone just guessed it though.
It was that Jesus told Mary not to touch him.

But thank you muchly for the compls

Nice work! I like the details and especially the expression on Mary Magdalene's face..And let me just try to guess--is it the crosses on the tip on Jesus' robe?

Being as someone guessed it already, I feel obliged to tell you that it was that Mary is holding Jesus' hand, while in the Bible, Jesus told her not to touch him at all

I felt so dumb after I remembered that XD

VEry beautiful drawing, you got a really pretty realistic style

I really want a request from you but I'll be sincere... I cant spot the mistake you made in the drawing, religion is always a weak spot for me despite that I come from a very religious family, Ill take my guess but its the entrance to cave soppuse to be open or close... ok really I dont know hehe

Despite all that really pretty drawing... and I have never used nibs ¬¬

Lumdrop In reply to K1-1YB0 [2013-04-02 21:15:25 +0000 UTC]

Good guess, but that's not it.
Sorry

And thank you
I had such high ambitions for this drawing going into it, but I'm not very good at making media do what I want it to with a brush, so I was sort of disappointed with a few parts.
But thank you, thank you, and thanks

You should try nibs then.
It sort of a learning curve because you have to keep dipping the pen in the ink and you have to learn to follow through on the line because if you idle for even a second you end up with little unfortunate blobs of ink where there shouldn't be one
But it's really rewarding when you finish because it makes even mediocre stuff look pretty good sometimes

And about requests...we might be able to work something out
Let me get some stuff sorted out and I'll get back to you on that, 'kay?

Sure thing no worries

You at least try diferent styles and techniques out, I stick to my comfort zone a lot, you really great skill and you'll be much better in shorter time

I really would like to try out diferent materials, but they are very hard to come by where I live, ordering online seem like my only option when it comes to art material ¬¬
