Description
another illustration assignment. i'm getting lucky with assignments lately!the story of the raven and the fox. and the cheese of course.
in the version we received they addressed each other as 'sir raven' and 'sir fox' and i couldn't help but picture them as people..and i was a little tired of drawing animals. wanted to give it that old print feel in color :]
tree looks like a bar. fox looks like he's not really leaning on it. raven looks high as a cloud. hmm.
pencil on brown paper and photoshop for quick color...should this be under digital? i didn't think so, but i'm not sure.

This is wonderful, Lauren! I love the way you added to the story by drawing the creatures as people! They are hilarious, the wonky, weird Raven, and the slippery con-artist Fox. I can see that the Fox isn't hungry, he just enjoys the game of it!
I love the 'old' feeling to the look of this!

Yayy! I love this fable. I remember having to memorize it in grade 6 for school. We did a 'Fables de La Fontaine" unit.
"Maรฎtre Corbeau, sur un arbre perchรฉ, Tenait en son bec un fromage..." I don't think I'll ever forget it!
You really captured the characters well! I love Sir Fox's sneaky, persuasive look, hehe. Sir raven is adorable! The textures on the leaves and the tree are really well done, too. I love this <3

I love their faces. They are so human, and yet I could not mistake the animals behind them for anything else.

Oooh very nice work indeed. ^โ^ Your art has such a nice feel to it. I love all the details in this, what with the cross-strokes and everything. The colours are perfect, too.

That story is so classy : D
(there are two versions of it, did you know? One with the cheese, one with meat isntead, story ends different, too)
Buuut back on your drawing : D
You can use pencils pretty impressively well <3
I love all the shadings and section lining, really awesome!
And the idea is just too cute, too : D

I like this style a lot. It really feels right for your way of illustrating things.
The composition is what really caught my eye here. The tree trunks lead your eye around so well, and the little bit of negative space at the top is a really interesting shape (yay leaves :3).
Their faces really convey a fox and a raven. Love love love x3

Aaaah, such a different and fun illustration! The expressions on both characters are priceless X3
That Sir. Fox is so cocky with an edge of charm, you really captured the animal in human form, and Sir. Raven looks a little like a wild recluse, he's got such starey eyes!
Am loving the background, how detailed and fine-lined it all is. Reminds me muchly of those... copper-scraping type pictures, if you know what I mean.
Reading over the description again, WOW, I can't believe that's photoshop work! It looks so much like traditional colouring it's unreal!

i love the way you draw humans their facial features are really cool and i love how the noses almost give off the look of a snout and a beak. Their outfits are really cute too, very expressive about which animals they are. and i love the roots of the tree! awsome job

ironically I think drawing those Fables with the animals themselves is a little overdone, so this is a neat twist

Ohhh, this is beautiful. I love how detailed your pencil drawins are, so so so inspiring. And this idea is awesome! I love how you draw people! Making their outfits look convincingly ravenish and foxy seems like it would be hard to me, but you pulled it off perfectly. Augh. Love.

Damn your attention to detail is beautiful. I love all the fine ink (I assume) cross hatching and shading, with the light wash of color. Your style is so original and fantastic. This looks like it should be straight outta a childrens book... The way you drew these two characters as humans is great... The crow really cracks me up with his bug-eyes. Love it. <3
