another illustration assignment. i'm getting lucky with assignments lately!the story of the raven and the fox. and the cheese of course.
in the version we received they addressed each other as 'sir raven' and 'sir fox' and i couldn't help but picture them as people..and i was a little tired of drawing animals. wanted to give it that old print feel in color :]
tree looks like a bar. fox looks like he's not really leaning on it. raven looks high as a cloud. hmm.
pencil on brown paper and photoshop for quick color...should this be under digital? i didn't think so, but i'm not sure.

I actually really like the pencil on brown paper. It has a very old feel, like a drawing from an old book of Aesop's fables.

Even though they are people, the characters of the raven and the fox really come through. I especially love the raven's blank stare, hehehe

Absolutely amazing! The look on Sir Raven's face is so the breed. And the detailing (EI, the fox tail patterned feather) are just enough for me to keep looking and looking at this piece!

you really do have that old print thing going on! It's really really nice!! *Enjoys it* I love this. And Sir Crow looks fairly psychotic which gives the whole story a sort of Tim Burton-y edge. Or maybe I'mt hinking of something else...

I think it was a great idea to draw them as humans, since the animals in all the fables are anthropomorphised anyway... I like it!
