Description
Emerge.Face the light.
I like bears. My local zoo has a pretty impressive Polar Bear exhibit (including one bear that was hand-raised, the zookeepers will be the first people to say that Hudson is a terrible example of a bear, but a fantastic dog), so I've spent a lot of time observing polars lately. They're magnificent animals with a story that has the potential to become sad.
I couldn't resist the gorgeous lighting I caught in one of my photos, dramatic lighting makes everything better.
It was a struggle to properly paint wet fur, its all triangles triangles triangles. But I also got to include little water droplets so yaaay~

This is so beautiful! I think you got the wet fur texture down really well, I don't see very many people attempt it.Β The lighting and the warm background complement it nicely, and I like how you managed to fit so much darkness on it while it still remains clear that it's a white animal.

Thank you!
It was a challenge to do the wet fur, but I'm very happy with it!
White fur is another tough challenge (as is black), but nature is rarely (if ever) purely black and white. Colour is everywhere!

One day, when I have the time and patience for that much detail, I might try my hand at something like that...It's beautiful. Very well done.

Thank you!
Detail takes time, but one of the best tricks is to paint bigger. The bigger the canvas, the more detail you can physically squeeze into an area.

beautiful work
and yes these creatures will most likely be extinct shortly, at the very least in the wild as their habitat rapidly disappears.
Mortality rates amongst the cubs is on the increase as the ice they need melt sooner.

Thank you!
It is quite sad to see the decline of the polar bears.

As much as I can, but sadly not enough. I work full-time in the summer and am a student full-time from September to April, so I can't dedicate my days to my artwork. But my evenings and weekends are often packed with painting time.
Ideally I at least try to paint for a few hours each week, though I wish it were much more!
