Yeah I haven't seen too many feather paintings around either, which I suppose is one reason why I was so attracted to them.
Thanks!

Oh thanks, I love my avatar. I haven't changed it for....like, a very long time. xD

Hahas. That doesn't matter, as long as you like it. Do the cogwheels and the puzzle piece mean anything?

Over the years I've kind of made the puzzle piece into my logo of sorts, I use it everywhere.
And the gears...I just like them.

I think they look neat, and just how they fit together to create a system is cool. And the fact that they're mechanical is a bonus...a lot of people like gears.

Haha, I can see that. Gears somehow reminds me of time. I can't help but stare at your avatar. Like starrrrre. Oh, I like how well the blue goes with black.

Oh yeah, blue and black is my signature combo. I LOVE those two paired together.
Mmmhmm, gears do somehow seem linked to time. For one thing it could be the relation between gears and clocks, but still seems like there is something more.

Yup, perhaps the mesmerizing way in which they moves... *stares* I love black, especially. It goes well with anything. As for blue... it reminds me of all things pure, (yes, normally it would have been white, but I'm a weirdo, so...) like the oceans or seas... though they could sometimes be green, too. Now, THAT reminds me of another wonderful color. Green can somehow uplift my mood at any given moment, and make me think, "Ahh, how beautiful". Heh, sorry for the rant.

Oh I agree with the thing about green. Certain tones are just so refreshing and wonderful.<3

Uhh huh. I would think that pure white would look pleasing to the eye, but in true the color is too piercing. I could go on for hours about my love for green. Oh, sorry for ranting, hahas. *added you on friend list, in case one day we lose contact* AND I refuse to call it deviantWATCHing for your case, because it sounds so distant. Ah, but your art deserves attention. I especially like the butterfly and the eye. I have an obsession with eyes, too. They're so pretty, and the reflections in one's eyes seems so magical somehow.

The ones that I've used in this tutorial are peacock feathers.

Great tutorial for people who want to get started! Also, I love your work space it looks so open and pleasant! Mine is sort of cramped into an awkward corner with the sun at my back, being all glare-y and unpleasant...

Oh I love my workspace. It's our dining room table, and when I work, I take over. We eat at that table depending on how much of my crap is covering it. xD
But for my 18th birthday my parents are getting me this superawesome drafting table (it's got a blue tempered glass top!) because I've been wanting one for awhile. Its going to be in that room still, but it'll be easier to have my own workspace that doesn't have to get moved whenever we have company.

Oooooooo so jealous! XD My mom gets angry when I art at the table. She keeps complaining that I'll get paint everywhere, even though I lay down newspaper before I work. She always banishes me to the basement, which is no good for traditional art- there's no natural light.
The drafting table sounds downright awesome- I think I saw something similar to what you're talking about online, and I positively drooled over it. Is it the kind that can be bottom-lit? Those are just nifty. The things you could do! ^^
Sounds like you have awesome folks :3

Your mom sounds exactly like mine. She always gets annoyed when i do art because I take over the whole table, and I might ruin her table. Then she tells me to go to the basement which has no good lighting and she will not let me put in a lamp.

LuxDani In reply to Supaslim [2010-08-08 00:31:59 +0000 UTC]
Mom only gets annoyed because I take over the ENTIRE table usually. I'm fairly neat when I art, but I like to spread out. So things are organized but everywhere. Doesn't really make sense but that's how it is. xD
Mm this one isn't bottom-lit but because of the glass top it can easily be converted to a light table/box with a lamp. This is actually the model I'm getting :[link]
But sadly they sold the last one in my city a few days ago so they're ordering it off the website so it should be in in 2-6 weeks.
