Description
A little perspective thing I did today. Perspective is a powerful tool to use and people dismiss of it because it looks scary, but it's something really worth spending your time on. It really helps your storytelling if used correctly.Itβs not perfect by any means but perspective is a lot based on the artist own sensibility, I merely offer a starting point.
this is `fox-orian 's tutorial I'm talking about [link]
if you want to reblog this on tumblr please use this [link] so I can keep track, thanks!

Do you have any tutorial about how to draw a perspective when yours vanishing points are out of the panel? I mean that they are not on the page? Is there a solution to create a grid in the panel without visible vanishing point

Thank you very much for this! I knew I was making mistakes but I couldn't tell how, or what it would take to fix them. You've helped me learn both with this information. Very helpful!Β

can a one point perspective have the vanish point outsude?
π: 0 β©: 1
martinacecilia In reply to YokoNakajima [2013-09-16 16:48:28 +0000 UTC]
yes but it comes out really awkward, it's better to use a 2 point perspective in that case...

This is wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing this.
I've understood the concept of vanishing points for a long time, but was always hung up on, 'where the hell do I put that blasted dot to make things look right?' If doing observational drawing I can usually find a vanishing point, but it's so much harder to figure things out when you're trying to create your own settings.
So thanks bunches for making things so much clearer

wow!
this is the most useful and crisp guide to perspective and itΒ΄s usage i have ever seen! (including the thousands of drawing lessons in highschool)
alltho i theoretically knew (meaning i once was tought) almost all of it, you depicted it so impressively and simple, making the step by step development so natural, that i feel this will stick to my head forever!
also i feel i need to draw some skyscrapers from various perspectives now
so once more: your tutorial is fit for absolute beginners aswell as pros who wanna freshen up!

yay! you make me an happy person! it's always nice to inspire! Perspective is really nice if you manage to get over the fear you have at the beginning and it's really REALLY useful....

yes, i can understand
i hope very much iΒ΄ll be able to spread your picture a bit cause, as you rightly said, not many people have worked extensively with perspective and it will take a while to get comfy with it. but itΒ΄ll defilitely pay off!
so if i show people your picture, how should i best credit you? with yor dA account?

yeah but it's all work that in the end REALLY pays off!
(Da is fine!, I have tumblr by the way if you prefer: electricalice.tumblr.com )

yeah but be careful in class, I didn't talk about tons of stuff. I guess it depends on the teacher but they have the tendency to focus only on "how to draw perspective" and not "how to use it". At least mine did up to a certain point, most of those things I've learned myself later....
