Callie: I'm sorry! It looked really shiny and I wanted to check it out!

Marie: Urgh...well, gets us away from the Octos, at least. Let's go see what's around here. In this...void...

[meanwhile]

W.Marie: For ffffffffuck's sake, again?! Has there EVER been a single time these damn things have worked properly?!

W.Callie: W-We were supposed to be in that SMG4 universe, st-stopping those evil anime plans, cod da...d-darn it...

W.Marie: Well, no use goin' back to Her Highness just yet. I'd rather walk forward into the void than deal with HER on a bad day.

W.Callie: M-Me too...

[they walk off into the void, same as the other two do]

Callie: My feet huuuuuuuuuuurt...

Marie: I feel like we've been walking in place for a good while now...where are we, anyway?!

[meanwhile, again]

W.Callie: This place is...is this what they call the Void?

W.Marie: Gremlin Girl does. Says it's the space between universes. Not supposed to be here without a Splitter Crystal, but...hmm. They say if you walk far enough into the void, you'll run into yourself from another world or two...

W.Callie: Wait, I think I see someone!

W.Marie: Wait, what? Who?! [notices the two shapes get closer] ...Oh. You. Are. Kidding me...

Callie: Marie! Two figures, 12 o'clock!

Marie: Yeah, I see 'em! They look like...look like...what the...

[the two teams of sisters meet, at last. They stand, mere feet apart from each other, unsure of what to say or do. Marie is puzzled, Callie is shocked, and their War counterparts are less than phased. Callie approaches her alternate and raises her left hand. War Callie raises her own in response]

W.Marie: Oooooh great, the goody-two-shoes versions of us.

W.Callie: I-It's us, but...sane! I never thought I'd see that again! Uh...hi?

Callie: I...I-I...it's like I have a TWIN! [pulls War Callie into a hug, who screams in shock in response] AAAAAAH IT'S ANOTHER ME!!! THIS IS AWESOME!

Marie: Callie! Don't...d-...uh... [stares at War Marie] Man, those eyes...you've been through some stuff. What happened to you? What the shell is going on!?

W.Marie: You tell me, jackass. I know what's going on...do you?

Marie: ...Well, clearly we've somehow entered a parallel universe of sorts, where you both went down a dark and...dare I say, edgy path.

W.Marie: EDGY?! [seething] I don't think you quite understand how LUCKY you and your Cal are, Sister! The ones who got all the breaks! While we're stuck in servitude and everyone we ever cared for died by OUR hands!

Marie: I...what?

W.Marie: I'd try to explain...but you wouldn't understand. To shell with this. Cal, we're going home! ...Cal?

W.Callie: Marie, help! She won't let go!

Callie: Why would I want to? You look so small and sad and adorable! [checks arm and gasps heavily] AND YOU'VE GOT A METAL ARM! This is the best day EVER!

W.Callie: [panicking and hyperventilating] Mmmm..MMMMM-

W.Marie: Let go, you idiot! She gets upset easily!

[War Callie screams from sensory overload and shoves normal Callie out of the way. She starts running for War Marie, but slows, still panicking. She looks over to normal Marie, whimpers and bolts for her instead. She runs straight into her and wrapped her arms around her, then proceeds to sob into her shoulder. Marie continues to stand there, arms still raised in defence, body frozen in place]

Marie: ...I am very uncomfortable right now.

Callie: [distraught] Wh...what did I do wrong? [approaches the still sobbing War Callie] I'm so sorry!

W.Marie: Get away from her! [Callie jumps back. War Marie growls out a sigh] Guess she found something in you she didn't see in me. Must be the outfit. Haven't worn that for a while...

Marie: Why? Isn't she YOUR Callie?

W.Marie: ...No. My Callie is dead. And her Marie is dead.

Marie: Wait, what?! What happened?!

Callie: Oh no! I'm...sorry...

W.Callie: Mmmmmmm...

Marie: Well whatever, I don't think she's in any condition to go back home. And I don't wanna be trapped in this...void. Come on Callie. Let's go home.

Callie: You mean we're taking her with us?!

Marie: As long as she doesn't get into the Square, we'll be fine. Come on, Evil Me. You coming?

W.Marie: Did you...JUST CALL ME-

Marie: [smug grin] Oh yes, I did that. Now come on, we gotta get back. Gramps must be worrying about us. And, uh...gotta calm this Callie down...

[the two start walking, the limping War Callie in tow]

Callie: Oh, yeah! Let's go! I'll promise I'll help look after her, and calm her down, and give her hugs, and clean her robot arm, and...

W.Marie: Wha-NO! Cal, get back here! We gotta report back to home base, with the drunk Marina and the lack of lights and the cold beds and the stupid evil Pearl who will be furious at us for this and what the actual FFFFUCK am I saying?! [sprints after the two] Wait for me!

[she catches up to the others]

Marie: So, what really happened, huh? What did Octavio do to result in that biker girl getup?

W.Marie: Not much. Come on, Marie, you know the score! We're alternate versions of each other! We're two blasts of ink from the same Hero Charger. The difference being one blew off the hypnoshades and one...well...

Marie: ...Part of me really doesn't want to know what happened here. But, understand this. We'll offer shelter for as long as you need it. As long as you tell us EVERYTHING. Clear?

W.Marie: ...Crystal.

[the four walk into the portal leading back to the Sister's dimension, leaving the two portals still floating around in the void]

Really want to start making these more concise, so here we go; this is sort of a prequel to A Year for Every Pose (fav.me/dd7yex1 ), showing the first time the Squid Sisters of SPLAT-23 and the War Sisters of varying universes meet through universial connections. Turns out this version of Octavio was messing about with accessing other universes as well as hypnoshades. Perhaps he was trying to find a universe where he won and yet died off at the same time. Move in, fresh start, you know? A month or so after saving Callie and locking him up, the two are sent off into the Valley to clean up remnant Octoling activity, and before long they access a lab where they find some of his attempts to travel across the realms. And, because Callie is Callie, they activate one and are thrown through into the Void. Or Hyperspace. Or whatever, it depends on the culture.

Of course the question is, why are they doing this in their idol outfits? Well...I lack the clothing needed to make their Agent outfits and the facemask doesn't fit Marie correctly. It bonemerges to her nose. So...yeah, Idol outfits until I find something better.

Meanwhile, the War Sisters, fresh from getting verbally railed on by Pearl following the Shrink Goop incident, are trying to access a certain universe to destroy a certain anime-making factory on a certain island to find a certain Inkling for Pearl's plans. Yep, that again. But because the timeline has shifted so dramatically to what they expected, they are instead thrown through to the void and they would rather wander then attempt to discuss this with Her Highness. So they keep walking and...yep, this happens. The rest happens as it does in the text.

So...hope ye enjoy? Hmm.
