Okay, maybe the inking tutorial didn't have anything radically different in it, but this does! As I said in the Inking Tutorial description, the steps described in this tutorial does not constitute the "correct" way of coloring, just a different one. I've seen some folks here achieve some pretty incredible effects using methods I wouldn't touch, so whatever works for you, works for YOU!
At any rate, try these out, and let me know if it helps. Please let me know if this isn't clear enough, or if you have any questions, feedback, or complaints, feel free to note me. I love to help. Also, PLEASE note me when you use these techniques and post a deviation; I'd love to see how it worked out for you!

For a long time, I've been having a hard time making lineart in Photoshop. (I tried the "removing the white areas" technique, which didn't help a lot.)
This really makes things more convenient!

Great tutorial ^^. I never figured out the purpose of setting a layer to multiply until now. Finally, I don't have to do the tedious lineart on photoshop! ><

You mean the actual anatomy as opposed to the inking tutorial? Hmm... hadn't thought of that. I'd recommend starting with 's Animal Anatomy tutorial. Study that, then let your mind bend and twist the basic Earth animal anatomy to fit whatever alien physiology needed to fit the environment. For instance, on this beast, I gave it the jaws of an alligator (a skulking clamp-and-grab predator, as opposed to a chase-and-snag predator like a lion). It has a modified mole rat head, and mole and armadillo claws because it's a mostly subterranean creature. Then I just made it look mean.
Give that a shot and see where it takes you. In the mean time, I'll throw some neurons at the idea of an alien anatomy tutorial (or three)

Ah! Yeah, there's a number of good books out there on basic drawing. I'd recommend just about anything by Bridgeman (Bridgemann?), which you should be able to find on Amazon.com - basically what you're doing is drawing very light circles and squares to block-out the basic shapes, then adding the final lines and details a little darker.
But sure, I'll consider doing a tutorial on that! I have a lot going on right now, so it may be a while, but I don't see why not. I just think there are better artists at it than myself. Of course, if none of them are doing any tutorials...

Nice tutorial. I like finding devaints who are willing to spare time to share in their techniques to help others progress. I create many tutorials and walkthroughs, and will continue to do so. Absolutely! I've bookmarked your page (and others) in Mozilla; I just keep forgetting to do it in DA. I enjoyed your "Taste" walkthrough and I thought your "Homer Alone" was brilliant on so many levels!
BTW, don't know whether you've seen it, but I just uploaded, well, yesterday I uploaded, a tutorial on a digital Sumi-e (Japanese brush painting) technique in Resources / Tutorials / Photoshop section. I shot it over to kuschelirmel and she'll probably publish it alongside the others.

Cool! I'm actually self-taught in Photoshop, so as a beginner, just do what I did: play with about every button, every filter, and every feature you can find! That really is the best way to learn about this program. And bear in mind too that there is no single way to do something; different features can often achieve the same results. So play with it, enjoy it, and above all, have fun.
I highly recommend that you check out these folks [link] and I don't say that because I've just been added to their member list
Also, peruse the other tutorials in the Resources area, or do a search for "tutorial" or "Photoshop tutorial." Then mix and match the procedures they recommend to get what you want. There's quite a few things in there that I didn't know how to do, so I'm going to be trying them myself.
Like I said, just dive in and have fun! Feel free to note me if you have any questions, specific or otherwise.
