Description The Lookout
not much to say here except that it was a lovely day at Pakiri Beach.
So enjoy and soak up the sun for those in the northern hemisphere that are experiencing those lovely cold winter temperatures

I'm not one for super saturated colour...though this photo stands out because it all fits together! I especially love the blurry background. It makes me keep looking over and over again. Excellent job.

meemo In reply to antipex [2008-01-14 03:35:57 +0000 UTC]

i have to agree, i usually tend to rather desaturate than saturate, but in this case -as you said- it seemed to fit. what intrigued me about this was the soft light underneath the branch in contrast to the strong blues in the background.

thanks a lot for taking the time to comment.

sweet. its good to have family all over the world.
im from germany but have lived in NZ for about 4 years now..

so living in Switzerland i assume you speak swiss, german, english and french or italian?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

delfin In reply to meemo [2008-01-14 21:10:46 +0000 UTC]

bah, english, and badass german... and i can understand the swiss (as long as they aren't too drunk)

i'm surprised you're from germany? have you travelled to the south island yet? you have many photographs from the auckland harbour area, andsome great work there... i wonder if you have seen many other parts of the country?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

meemo In reply to delfin [2008-01-14 23:19:17 +0000 UTC]

ha ha.. yea i think drunk swiss would be quite a challenge to understand

i've been to the south island about 4 years ago,.. flew to Nelson, did the Abel Tasman walks (not all of them mind you) then bussed down the west coast through Wanaka to Queenstown went to the Milford Sounds, which at the day was so foggy we couldnt see anything, then bussed back up the east coast through Chch to Kaikoura. Then we got on the car ferry in Picton and got to Wellington from which we bussed back up, through Taupo, to Akl.
Then last year a friend visited me here and we did a roadtrip up to Cape Reinga and back and around the Coromandel. so i ve seen a bit of NZ

At the time i didnt have my dSLR yet so i shot slidefilm with my Nikon F4s that's why not many images have made it onto dA
i should really do another tour now that i ve got my dSlr.

that's what i'm about to do... but not so many miles as you did! i've got a few special places in mind, some things i want to capture with a newer camera...

which part of germany are you from? (North South East West, i'm not too good with german geography!)

Im from Hamburg (North).

delfin In reply to meemo [2008-01-15 12:13:49 +0000 UTC]

arriving in auckland, then driving north the day after... i'll spend most of my time in the south island (where it's pretty and green!)

meemo In reply to delfin [2008-01-16 00:18:46 +0000 UTC]

ha ha... akl isnt all that bad
but yea south island is definitely nicer, landscape wise..

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

delfin In reply to meemo [2008-01-16 01:10:57 +0000 UTC]

well, auckland is warm! but the south osland gets even better when you know people/places/secrets... the tourists don't see the best of it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

meemo In reply to delfin [2008-01-18 08:16:29 +0000 UTC]

i bet you're right... you should give me a tour

delfin In reply to meemo [2008-01-18 11:26:14 +0000 UTC]

heehee, yeah that would be fun... except i'm living fulltime in europe, and everytime i'm back in nz i need every minute to catch up with friends and family!

meemo In reply to delfin [2008-01-20 10:52:54 +0000 UTC]

I love the place, the framing and the concept, but I think the colors are a bit 'too much'.

Nonetheless it's a very nice shot

meemo In reply to Anoya [2008-01-13 22:08:55 +0000 UTC]

i know what you mean, and generally i dont saturate my photos at all, in this instance i think i got a little carried away by the summer' sun and ended up liking it too much to desaturate it in the end
