Description
This is another piece that I did for my illustration class, where we had to choose an excerpt from Jack and the Beanstalk and create an illustration for it. The scene that I chose to illustrate is when Jack brings his mother out to see the newly-formed beanstalk. A lot of times when I’m doing character design, I like to give the character a cultural background, so when I was designing the mother’s dress I did a lot of research on the patterns and styles of dresses that women would wear in rural Europe and drew heavily from Germanic influences. Of course I put my own spin on it too. This was done in about 15 hours using colored pencils and micron pens on bristol.
