Description The commission from hell.
Looking back at this, it seems like it should have been a much easier piece, but this has been a headache for much longer than it should have been. Mainly because the client who ordered it gave me very explicit instructions to NOT do any of the things that would have made the piece seem more interesting/alive/realistic. Ah, the life of a commission artist......I want advil.

Even with commission requirements, ya gotta love a Verne Nautilus, because, well, because it is a Verne Nautilus, that's why!

EXCELLANT!!!!!!!!! This is BETTER than what most of the film versions of the novel have portrayed the Nautilus as look like. Your adherence to the original is Impressive.

Very impressive concept from the original JV written design. Reminds me of the Zeppelins which would develop a similar shape during WWI. While I am a fan of Harper Goff's conceptual design, I enjoyed seeing the many variants of the originals which have come along via the InterWebs. Yours is noteworthy. I had the honor to meet Mr. Goff once and I am sure he would have approved of your work!

Thank you very much. That's quite high praise. This was a commission that I did for a gentleman who requested that I try to stick as close to JV's original descriptions as I could. I'm pleased to say that this piece got chosen for inclusion into the vernianera.com Nautilus catalog, the link to which is a few comments up. There are a ton of other great designs there from just as many artists over the years.

I really like your interpretation of the Nautilus. Seems very true to the book.

Thank you. That was actually a request of the person who commissioned the piece. I spent about a week researching as much as I could find on the original descriptions and then a few days redrawing it with a ruler and a calculator to get it as accurate as I could lol.
