The website is run by someone whose goal is to disprove all the 2012 theories out there using the most valid evidence possible. (see article: "2012- Why It Shouldn't Be Feared) After researching for over a year and reading his newsletter, I've come to realize that 2012 has become a HUGE cash cow.
It's become a tool to instill fear in the general public, and I'm really sick of all this apocalypse crap. I tend to be a realist. Of course, I do believe that unfortunate events will occur leading up to and on that day, but it's due to the course that humans have decided to take as a result of global warming, wars, etc. Everything about galactic alignment/pole shifting/planet X is pretty much all fake, and numerology and Nostradamus are invalid arguments.
My prediction for 2012? People are going to purchase a surplus of food/water, they're going to huddle in a room with their families until the time comes on that date, and after 11:11 passes, we'll SEE THE BIG ASTEROID WHICH WON'T HIT US, and then... nothing. I think it's going to be the start of a new revolution, to be totally honest.
Something we NEED. And something big may happen... but it won't be the end of the physical world or an apocalypse. Don't worry.

How do you know it's a hoax? I don't know if I believe in 2012, but I do believe in doomsday. The dinosaurs lived on planet earth for millions for years, before they mysteriously disappeared. Coincidence? No. I believe that something happened and destroyed them, just like something's going to destroy mankind. I believe the earth will survive, only a new era will come... I do not think it will happen in 2012, but who knows? It might happen, but most likely it won't. However, I find this topic very interesting

As much fun as thinking the world will detonate or a comet that we should have seen coming the theoritical mile away amuses me, I live off facts and I can't stand it when people turn nonfacts into the cash cow (you stole the words right out of my mouth there).
So, let's get this straight. On December whatever (it seems to change depending on what website I'm viewing), 2012, the sun eclipses the center of the galaxy and...we all die for some reason.
So, let's look at who really believes. We have
1) The obsessed religious nutjobs (who I often refer to as "the bible-thumpers"). These are an untrustworthy bunch who would believe anything so long as you slather it in plenty (one) of refrences to it in the bible.
2) Paranoids and schizophrenics, who are too insane and dilusional to trust about a sale at Wal-Mart, much less the day everything goes kabooey.
3) That weird old guy down the street. Come on, we all have one.
Hm. Not exactly the sort of people I'd trust.
Now, onto the Myans and that old crackpot Nostradamus.
The Myans...I'm not sure what to say about them. I simply don't believe anything they have to say about when our merry little world will become another cold rock in space, mustly since this is coming from an empire that seemed to be only good for stonework and coming up with dumb doomsday plots.
Then Nostradamus. There's a big hooplah that Nostradamus predicted it in some book. I saw a TV show on this that went in great "detail," which means looking at a book he wrote that is full of images that can be interpreted as the end of the world or anything else you could possibly want. The problem with belief is if you believe in something, everything you turn up will seem to back up your belief.
But will this be a good thing for Earth? Yes. Anyone foolish enough to believe this pile will probably die in riots or by suicide, (this may sound cruel) thinning out the population of morons and we as a species will be better off with some idoicy removed from the gene pool.
The Darwin Awards will be widespread in 2012.
I realize how long this is, and I must apologize. I never intended it to be this long, but I can get ranting when I look at an issue like this.

"2012: A Hoax"? Why, that's obssered! There are only two kinds of people in the world who screw with everyday life:
1. Nutjobs who believe the world's coming to an end
(i.e. Obsessed Christians, those "one with the Universe" believers and crazy people out on the streets)

I believe in 2012 for spiritual reasons and for a hope of a better humanity, I've known about 2012 since like 1996, well before the hype came about, I haven't been suckered in by the media, I am willing to trust my fate in ancient astronomers who knew about the stars alignment than we did until recently. Who believe in a CYCLE of life, like the CYCLE of seasons, like the cycle of the moon. It is a matter of faith, not science, and you dumb westerneized bitches refuse to believe anything that doesn't follow you're skewed reasoning that has fucked up the world thus far. As much as I respect your view on the situation, some of us that have commented on this have done our own research, including myself.
I think something will happen but it will be nothing like this doomsday crap. It'll be doomsday for people who really disapprove and act like it's bullshit without researching and ignoring the facts, but for anyone else they'll be prepared for what's coming. It'll be the world as we know it will end.
I've seen the predicted maps of the world after 2012, no doubt about it, the polar shift (whether its physical or magnetic) will happen. People will die, yes but some will survive.
The Maya people of today have said we, the whites haves misinterpreted the prophercies into a doomsday, it's not. It's a beginning of a new cycle.
I personally think people panic because, they haven't experienced something like this before, it's new to people and they don't know what to expect. And I don't blame them...

You know what if you can't see the things happening in the news and the way the world has gotten faster then you truly are blind. The world will go through the galatic allinment in 2012 which will cause the north and south poles to shift causing world disasters. Maybe it the end or not people still should be ready for anything. Tribes and ancient people didn't make this stuff up they know something is going to happen. People just don't believe in being spiritualy in tune with themselves which is sad.
