The website is run by someone whose goal is to disprove all the 2012 theories out there using the most valid evidence possible. (see article: "2012- Why It Shouldn't Be Feared) After researching for over a year and reading his newsletter, I've come to realize that 2012 has become a HUGE cash cow.
It's become a tool to instill fear in the general public, and I'm really sick of all this apocalypse crap. I tend to be a realist. Of course, I do believe that unfortunate events will occur leading up to and on that day, but it's due to the course that humans have decided to take as a result of global warming, wars, etc. Everything about galactic alignment/pole shifting/planet X is pretty much all fake, and numerology and Nostradamus are invalid arguments.
My prediction for 2012? People are going to purchase a surplus of food/water, they're going to huddle in a room with their families until the time comes on that date, and after 11:11 passes, we'll SEE THE BIG ASTEROID WHICH WON'T HIT US, and then... nothing. I think it's going to be the start of a new revolution, to be totally honest.
Something we NEED. And something big may happen... but it won't be the end of the physical world or an apocalypse. Don't worry.

I have my doubts about religion but I still believe in God. The world has to end but I don't think it's in the near future I'd say about the year 3000 or something like that. I guess I was just so scared about what could happen that I pissed people off >>;; But I was only worried about people and thought they should know too. My actions were rude but I was only looking out for people. Art is our bible then.....^^ My family is going through hell too. Bad hell. But I'm sure we'll pull through somehow. Like you will too. ^^

i dont really know about 2012, personally i think that ppl who really truly believe in it wanna die. of course 2012 doesnt mean that we will die. it's also believed that we'll advance as a human race. so thats wut they could be so interested in, w.e it is i dont have an opinion.

I think that we have read this Mayan calender all wrong. Reading through comments about 2012, and researching it. I made up my own theory about how the world will 'end'.
I think that these things that'll happen naturally will change how we as a civilization live. The world won't end physically, the planet won't get struck by anything like a meteor or anything, it'll be a world as we knew it will end.
So essentially, the Mayan Calender, the people who first wrote it only calculated up to a certain few thousand years or so, because they possinly assumed that this was how long the world will live for, how we see things. And anything else that happened after 2012, they had no clue.
But really, I think when the world does actually end, don't know when...people won't listen, because they've heard it so many bloody times they've got bored, meaning they'll be oblivious to the world ending. And for me, that's when the sun goes, in 15 million years time. When the sun dies and becomes a red dwarf and burning everything with it. That's the end of the world for me, the end of planet Earth.

totally agree. however, when she sun turns into a dwarf, the human race might already be extinct due wars or epidemics. We're more likely to destroy ourselves, than something from outer space destroys us.
If the humans still exists over 15 million years, they're not humans any longer, anyway. And we might have already drifted out in space.

Agreed, but I wasn't saying that humans as humans would be around, most likely to the next Ice Age and the climate change we could have evolved into something else or...devolved back to our caveman state to survive, all I was saying was that the planet Earth would be around stillwhen the sun went. Not the human civilization or any other creature as a matter of fact.

I'm not worried about the world ending. I'm just worried about what will happen that day, due to the fear installed into human minds. Think about it... what would a military do on doomsday? ( which is fake! ) huddle up with friends and family or attack someone they can't stand a bit? You should know we are naturally violent, which sadly MOST people don't. I'm not saying our military or government will go bazooka either. I myself plan on joining ( look at icon ) so I do entrust if a meteor was going to hit our technology would see it years before it was even close! ( NASA, Air force... any technologicly advanced company or line of military defense )

True this. I found out than the Mayan calendar just said that it will end on the December 21st, 2012. Whoever heard that the calendar said there will be a global apocalypse didn't hear very well. There have been many failed world death predictions, and I can't believe the creators of 10,000 B.C. are actually making a movie about it!

I know that it's been almost a year since you posted this but I agree. It just said, it will be the end. End of what? It might not nessiserily be the world, I could mean it'll be the end of something on the world but it wouldn't just dissapear like that. It could be the polar ice caps, or something like that. I know, I saw the movie add when I was at the cinema once, and I was like oh my God. A MOVIE!? =__=;;

Anyway. My name is Roy. The Mayan calendar upon which this nonsense is founded is subject to doaens of interpretations. And the late Terrence MacKenna started all of this foolishness - he admitted as much to science writer John Horgan in the latter's "Rational Mysticism" (a beautiful book in its own right). Like another Irish psychedelicist, Tim Leary, MacKenna could spout a LOT of blarney. So much so that 2012 is a thriving industry.
And on that day? I'll be retired (I'm 60) and either in Brazil or Amsterdam, enjoying what the locals have to offer an old hippie.
