Glad you like it.
I use a free open source fractal art program called Apophysis. You can get it here [link]

I love the blend of reds and blues, plus the way you framed it is very modern and professional looking.

thats lovely!! Is this with new plugins? Wow aint I been missing things! ..I been without PC because my new 24 inch screen died.....now back to the old sturdy 17" RCT monitor! Must find some cash to get another LCD now!

This uses a parameterized Bipolar, and the new Bent2.
Sad to hear about your monitor. Most LCD's here have a 3 year warranty. How long have you had it for?

Unfortunately I bought my LCD screen second hand......no warranty there!

As much as I say that your pieces are incredible, the more I see from you in this style the more I realize: You know this stuff, inside and out.
The flame itself is really interesting and has that same fluidic motion that is just classic Faber (ah yes, a new buzzword for the Apo-contemporaries). What sets it apart is the color control and the color-muting frame, both of which really make the fractal perfectly balanced on the screen.

There are many things I like about this piece, Michael. This is really your best piece in a while. So, here goes.
First, the gradient choice is amazing. This is really, in all honesty, what attracted me to this piece. I also like the (e)motion shown here. Radial blur comes in handy here (it is radial blur, right?).
What I'm not really digging are the quarter-circles on the left side of your fractal. To me, it would look better if they were cropped out. The balance looks uneven with them there. Also, I wish the resolution for this was higher so I could see some of the smaller details here, but I understand protecting your work from thieves, so I won't complain about it much.
All in all, a great piece, Michael! Keep on making awesome works.

Absolutely

I definitely see what you mean here. I feel like the other components will be unbalanced if i cropped it out though. Just for interests sake, you may not realize it, but the other part of this quarter circle is directly opposite, on the right side. You could seamlessly line this image up side by side. The quarter circle is on the side not because that is where i cropped it, for there is nothing to the right or left of this image, but that is where it was when i got the swirl and main focal point where i wanted them.
I wish the resolution for this was higher so I could see some of the smaller details here, but I understand protecting your work from thieves, so I won't complain about it much.
I usually make my images 1200 pixels on the large side, with a watermark, but i really didn't like the watermark on this one. Give and take

Wow, it does line up seamlessly! I didn't make that connection before. That's awesome.
And you're welcome for the comment.

My modified Bipolar has a parameter that moves the image, taking advantage of this seamless shape of the variation. I can change the parameter to make this image scroll around. It makes for some more interesting shapes from Bipolar

I wilst assume you are using more plugins? Any release date soon?! Huh?!?! -le spaz-
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
MichaelFaber In reply to xero-sama [2008-02-26 01:55:47 +0000 UTC]
This makes extensive use of Bipolar, with a parameter, and the unreleased Bent2. I don't think there will be a plugin release until apophysis is updated to handle more plugins. We'll see.
You could of course go to the sourceforge page and compile the source code into dll files for your own use though
