Incredible!Β
Would you mind if I used this as reference for a drawing that I want to try to do? I can hardly do awesome poses like this without help D:

I must say the finished version of this is much better. The position of her right arm is more natural looking. Also, the tilt of her head is improved, and the lighting really rounds it together by brightening her face and bringing out the nice features.
I never really liked her face in this one. Perhaps this is just one of her bad angles - everyone has them!

Thank you! I am glad you like the final render.
This is the most difficult part when it comes to perfect 3D renders. The face and especialy the eyes!

The mesh itself if a V4 (Poser) mesh with morphs and textures tuned to this version. You can see the version without textures here: [link]

Thank you that realy means much to me.
The hardest point of human 3d renderings is always the face especialy the eyes.
Because they are the "windows to the soul" they need the most attention in shading, ligthing and rendering...
You can see the evolution over 3 versions of a different rendering here:

The great feedback and comments of the superb people here on DA helped to get Alexander this realistic...

"I dont like women renders (99.99% users of Poser or Daz, make that)"
pff there has sometimes these comments ... like this :
"I hate POSER and DAZ ... stop to play with your barbie , you are not an artist , you are nothing , you play just with your doll" ...
like this... well...if only they knew how much time we spend to create an image

Although I am always skeptical when I read someone using Poser, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Did you model it or tweak from existing topology?
Looks very well done. The face and legs are both the strongest parts. Does cinima4d have subsurface scattering? That's the only thing you are missing to push this into naturalism.

mike-reiss In reply to achromatic-cycle [2010-01-22 07:25:37 +0000 UTC]
It is a tweak of a V4 3d mesh.
It is based on a poser model. Subdivided, smoothed, deformed in some parts.
The texture and shaders are reworked using C4D's shader system.
This character is based on M4 and expanded with the possibilities of C4D.: [link]

You did a great job, I certainly don't know how to use all the tools you mentioned. Your model has a beautiful and well proportioned figured and you did a very good job on the legs especially. However, if you don't mind I'll tell you something that bothers me, personally. I could be wrong but to me the head looks a little small in proportion to the rest of the body. I've studied a lot of figures and photos of the same over the past twenty years.
On a short woman the length of the head, from the chin to the crown of the head when the head is level in relation to the viewer, is often 2/15 of the figure height. So if the woman is 5 feet 2 inches that would mean her head would be about 8 and 1/4 inches. However on most taller women, let's say 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 10 inches, the head is usually 9/70 of the figure height. If she is 5 feet 8 inches then her head would be 8 and 3/4 inches .
I would have to print out a picture of your work to be sure and then dissect it with my calculator to be sure, but with just some rough measurements on the screen it looks as though the head is 30/30 of an inch and should perhaps be 35/30 of an inch, according to my rough measure of the figure height from the crown of the head to the bottom of the heel. Also another reason why I think the head is a little too small is that on a taller woman it is usually one head length (9/70f ) from the chin when the head is level to the top of the areola of the breast and about 1/7f from that chin level to the nipple. So to me personally it looks as though the size of the head is too small to fit in with where you put the breasts, but they are above the elbow where they should be.
I'm not trying to be critical and I could be mistaken. If you are happy with the head then please just ignore my comments.

WOW!
Thank you for your detailed and full of wisdom comment.
The image is based on a standard human 3d mesh - so I guess the proportions sould be right. It may have something to do with the hair setup. This may cause the effect of a smaller head.
I will check that when I am back on my rendering engine.
Thanks for the time and that helpfull feedback!

bambootiger In reply to mike-reiss [2010-01-21 22:32:46 +0000 UTC]
You're welcome. The head is tilted back also and so that makes it much harder to guage. Generally the face is 9/10 or 11/13 of the head lengths I use. I'm sure that whatever software you use has to have optimal proportions embedded in the program. It is possible though that the program may have the model proportion at 8 heads tall. If that is true it still might be pleasing to alter those proportions, if you can, because that might possibly fit in well with the size of the breasts, and also I get the impression that her shoulders are rather wide, and that would work better with a larger head also. Of course I haven't used any software like you mention so in that regard I don't know what I am talking about, and you have to be the final judge of what you like and what you are aiming for. I think that if you look in my gallery you will see something of what i am talking about, and in particular "Aly's Lion" where the model is not a whole lot different then yours except that she is kneeling and generally thinner:

Thanks for so much theroetical details. Do you study human anatomy? Impressive.
If you check this image here: [link] You will see that the hair setup and color causes some of the effect...

What comment!lol
the comment I read (not yours) made me die of laughter ...lol
the man takes the principle that each woman should be similar ... so that every human is different ...every women is diferent... and on top of that he criticized a 3D character ... Virtual ... that does not exist ..I do not think DAZ 3D has made a mistake in proportions , as in most everything we can to change the morphology is ... and make a big head

That does look like that's what it is. The white one looks better proportioned but i measured just the face portion off the screen with my engineering scale and a magnifying glass and as far as I can readily tell they look about the same.
I wouldn't say that I study human anatomy. Women aren't human are they? Seriously though, that's the only way I could draw one. I don't know the medical terms but I do know the math. My working theory for the past twenty years is that the atoms of beauty are mathematically arranged and if only one could study it long enough the relationships would become apparent.
By studying the photos of bountiful women I have found that the same, or nearly equivalent fractions keep appearing, and that even if I take the measurements of someone not quite attractive I can adjust those closer to the math and make them look more attractive. As far as I know no one else is taking the same approach.
The prevailing approach to understanding beauty is based on angles:
[link]
My own approach is based on relative proportions in Cartesian co-ordinates. Also one of my goals is to develop my own personal curvilinear perspective sans vanishing points. Thanks for your time I'm sure your lady will look fantastic. Keep me in mind and send me a note when you get her clothed and posed and stuff. Are you familiar with Bollywood clothes and jewels? They really know how to dress their women up. Though western costume fashions can look really great too.
