Season 12 : Dino Thunder 2004

Freed from the Wizard of Deception's powers, Tommy Oliver's doppleganger stayed in the past to help the ancestors of the citizens of Angel Grove. A few years later he was contacted by the Power Rangers Time Force. They told him he had to go back to his present time to do Paleontology studies in order to protect the timeline. He was also told afterward he would have to be united again with his counter-part.

After graduating with honors, he went to find the original Tommy Oliver. This one had just recently lost his Turbo powers and was trying to find a way accros the stars to find Zordon. With a device left for one use only by the Time Force, both Tommy were united again. A new Tommy Oliver was born, more adult and calm. He decided to continue his studies on dinosaurs for a while and went on a expedition around the world with Katherine, his fiancée.

They discorvered by chance the red, blue and yellow Dino-Gems. They gave them to Billy for analysis. At the time he worked at the science department for the Light Speed Rescue Power Rangers. He discovered the powers of the gems. A power not unlike the one of the Powers Coins of their youth.

Billy and Hayley (A college friend from the past Tommy) worked together to create the Dino-Morphers, linking the power of the gems to the Morphing Grid. Hoping one day the gems would choose trustworthy people to use them and become Power Rangers. They also built some Zords to go with it and some auxillary Zords.

A few years later, three of Tommy's students (he became a teacher in high school) by accident found the gems and were granted powers. When Tommy found out, he took them under his wings becoming a mentor and started to teach them how to control the powers of the gems, and their Ranger powers.

When the terrifing Mesogog attacked Earth, the real test begun for the Dino Rangers. Mesogog did not only try to conquer Earth, he was also trying to get his hand on the power of the Dino Gems. One day he almost got a new gem, the black Dino Gem but Tommy Oliver was quicker than him. Having a morpher ready to bond with the Dino Gem, Tommy Oliver became the Black Ranger and fought alongside his students.

Mesogog was sure to have enough data to create a synthetic dino gem and started to engineer one, along with the morpher. Katherine, keeping a eye on her husband had infiltrated the complex and stole the gem who merged with her. The white Dino Gem being artificial and Katherine not being human, the reaction was not quite what she expected. Kat's mind went back in time when she was under Rita's spell. Persuaded that Mesogog was working for the witch, Kat joined forces with him and attacked the Rangers.

Worring about Kat, Tommy investigated. With some help from the other Rangers he finally found out the truth. Using a device created by Haley he managed to cure Kat and she then helped them to fight Mesogog. Not long after that incident, they discovered the last Dino Gems, the cherry one. They all decided to give the Dino Gem to Hayley, she was not required to fight with them at all times but it was a safer way to keep the Dino Gem from falling in Mesogog's hands. She pilot the Stegazord and mostly morph when her zord is needed but it should be noted that Hayley can defend herself if needed. She just don't like to.
