This is NOT the official Power Rangers season 1 line-up. This is my own version of it. Please read the following journal if you are not familiar with my "ReImagining the Power Rangers" concept : [link]DO NOT use without my explicit permission first.
/!\ I haven't made a lot of changes for this season, basically I gave Trini a real female version of the Yellow Ranger suit and that's all. I was quite happy with the original season of Power Rangers, that's why I didn't change much. Real changes start at season 2. /!\
Season 1 : Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers 1993
Since the beginning of time, the Power Rangers are the protectors of freedom in all the known galaxies. In the Milky Way, in the Sol System, two forces battle. Zordon, defender of good and Rita Repulsa servant of evil.

Ten thousands Earth years ago, Rita was finally able to incapacitate Zordon temporarily. Hopefully for Earth, Zordon had one trick left. He splited his remaining powers into five young humans and created the Power Rangers. After a really long struggle, they where finally able to banish Rita.
Today, on the moon, some astronauts discover some kind of space dumpster. By accident they freed Rita and her troops. Still imprisoned in his temporal cage, Zordon had to call once again the Power Rangers to the rescue.

With the help of the androïd Alpha 5, he choose five young earthling representing each one trait he values. He then reformed the team of Earth's protectors of freedom. Jason, Zack Billy, Trini and Kimberly are : The Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers.
After a few months of battle and countless defeats, Rita decided to speed up the process. She casted a spell on Tommy, a young man who just moved to Angel Grove. She gave him amazing powers, powers as powerful as the Power Rangers and made him her evil Ranger.
After a great struggle, Zordon and his Rangers were able to break Rita's spell, thus making Tommy one of them, the Sixth Power Ranger.

I was thinking about how I could make MMPR a little more like Zyuranger, and here's what I came up with:
-Pretty much the same backstory for Rita and Zordon as in Zyuranger.
-The teens were the reincarnations or descendants of the Rangers from 100 million years ago.
-The Power Weapons are hidden on the Island of Illusion. Trini and Kim must find the weapons while the boys try to hold off the Mighty Minotaur.
-The first Green Ranger to appear is actually Burai, and Tommy is a red herring.
-Burai fights with the Rangers until the Green Candle drains his life force, and he must return to his eternal slumber.
-"Doomsday" comes at the end, after the Zyu2 episodes.
-In "Return of an Old Friend", Tommy finally becomes the Green Ranger.
-Zordon relieves the Rangers from active duty after "Doomsday"; with Rita gone, hopefully forever, the Rangers can take a much-needed vacation from super-heroics.

You know, I bet if they had given the yellow ranger a skirt for the American footage, nobody would've noticed.

Well, I don't know about you, but as a kid I manage to differentiate the american from the japanese footage 50% of the time.

Yeah, one noticable difference between the two is the Dragon shield. It's a Hard Foam or Rubber in the Japanese footage whereas it was some sort of fabric in MMPR but it was Hard Rubber or Foam again in "The Fighting Spirit"

True. It's harder to tell these days. Seems like around Wild Force or Ninja Storm they started getting better quality sentai footage.

Looking back, Season 1 seems to hold up the best from the MMPR era. Seasons 2 and 3 had their strengths, but things got weird when they started mixing different sources and swapping out the cast.
I had an idea that when the coins were originally forged, the Green Ranger was meant to be the leader (hence he's the most powerful), but the power was corrupted by Rita.

you know, i heard a theory once that the green power coin was actually zordons
that when rita cast the spell on zordon she took the power coin
And although i havent watched dino thunder, i heard a theory that the whole reason tommy got into sceince was to ressurect the dragonzord

This is TOTALLY AWESOME. Been a while since I did microheroes but I've been wanting to get back into it for a while.
MMPR Season 1 is the best, no exceptions. Mega-kudos to you for doing these characters justice! And I like the variations at the bottom... even if they were one-shot on the show

I used Paint Shop Pro 9, then reworked them more recently when I changed to Paint Shop Pro X, but it's not the program that makes the micros heroes, some micromakers can do things I couldn't imagine doing and they just use paint.
