The lineart I used can be found here: [link]

Parts One and Two of the tutorial can be found here: [link]

Enjoy! And please, if you have any questions or comments or requests for future tutorials let me know. I love these things ^^

I have heard of vector art for some time now, but I never really knew what it was. This fantastic tutorial has shed a great deal of light on the process and I must say I am very intrigued. Do you know of any free vector art programs available on the Web? I would greatly appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction.

Hmmm, I don't know of any FREE applications...Illustrator is quite expensive, and I'm not sure if Corel Draw is any cheaper...there might be free trials available for download so that you can try them out, but I'm not even sure where you'd find them sorry I can't help any more! Try a google-search, I guess.

Quite expensive, eh? Oh bummer. That's the reason I don't even have Photoshop. Guess I'm stickin' to Microsoft Paint, which by the way, I happen to be the ultimate guru of -- if there's something that can be done in Paint, I can do it.

Sorry for butting in, but I remember a free vector program called Inkscape . I've never used it before, but I've seen some great work done with it. Lookie, there's even a dA group! ~inkscape

A tutorial usually takes me between 5-7 hours to make, start to finish...although it doesn't seem like that long until I look at the clock, LOL!

Thanks for creating this, it's very informative. I'm horrible at any form of digital coloring, so this should help out immensely (even if all I have is Painter Classic and Photoshop 5.0 LE ) Thanks again.

Wow, this is helpful. The hardest part of any new program is the part that you've helped people get through. Even though I don't need this, I think it's really helpful and I've already recommended it to several people!

Thank you so much! I hope to go over more complicated things in later tutorials, but there were so few "beginner" vector art tutorials out there that I thought that would be a good place to start...

Are your initials JT? Mine are too!

I completly self taught myself to use adobe photoshop (my original program used for cging stuff.) so i figured i could do the same for illustrator. but everytime i try to use it...i just cant figure it out. your tutorials are going to prove very useful to me. i skimed through both of em, and they are very easy to read. (very user friendly ) i already know that with this as a guide i can quickly grab the reigns to illustrator! thanks a bunch for these! Keep up the good work!!

Yeah, I'm thinking that maybe a color theory - shading/highlighting tutorial might be cool....my friend is working on one right now, but she hasn't posted it yet.
