Description OMG FINALLY FINISHED THIS THING!!
And warning ppl: THIS IMAGE IS HUGE!!!

According to the poll I made not long ago, ppl want me to make a tutorial for ComicWorks. So, after so many time I finally made it!!
This is my FIRST tutorial ever, so bear with it, plz >.<

What is ComicWorks???
It's a program used for toning. If you notice, I ALWAYS use this program to tone my b/w illusts ^w^
There is another program called "Manga Studio" or "Comic Studio" I forgot, and it's the same thing but I prefer using CW.

So! This tutorial covers basically everything I know bout using CW. Remember, you guys still havta experiment by urself to fully understand this program. I made this just to share what I kno.

Enjoy, you guys!!! Hope this tutorial will be a great help!!

Very great tut and straight to the point ^^
I know this is way too old but here is a question >3<"
How do you make your already inked picture have nice & smooth lines when imported to CW?
I tried many times but I always get a very rough lines = (

Thanks once again

Good tutorial, but for some reason the interface looks VERY similar to Open Canvas

I have the problem with PSP7 where when I make my own tones and apply them, they always come out the wrong size. I'll try the 600dpi, but I don't know how it will affect the resizing.

This is most helpful. Although I don't usually scan my works because I draw pretty much on tablet. Well for most pictures anyway.
I'll save this tutorial as a reference when I use ComicWorks next time.

I saw this on Y!, and shall bookmark it here for doujinshi plans. : D

Question, when you shrink the image down, I assume you go to 300 dpi?

-.- And... I know that CW has a tendency to screw anything from other programs up. Meaning my 600 dpi lineart from PS will not import properly... you are familiar with CW, is there any way to make this work, or is it a lost cause? ;_;

(Linearting in CW is hard!)

metalguru [2006-03-26 23:54:20 +0000 UTC]

I just got Manga Studio, and tone is applied in exactly the same way, so this tutorial will be useful. One question though: how do you correct your mistakes, like smudges or bad lines? I try to adjust the layers, but all it does is make the lineart so light that magic wand keeps selecting the entire page rather than the lines I want. Any suggestions?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RuuiEyvm In reply to metalguru [2006-03-27 01:12:37 +0000 UTC]

I think CW and Manga Studio is quite similar (since I've checked out Manga Studio and it looks no different then CW)
Hmmm bout your problem, try to erase the bad part and redo it with pen tool. I don't ink digitally, but sometimes I have some errors, and I would fix it with the pen tool and eraser.
I dunno how you adjust the layer (like, make it multiply and stuff? Is that what you mean??) since in CW, there are only 3 types of layer (ink, white, and reverse)

I hope this helps ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

metalguru In reply to RuuiEyvm [2006-03-27 02:30:37 +0000 UTC]

nah, what I meant was that in Photoshop, you can adjust the levels in the layer menu to whiten the area. The only problem is that the lines become so dim when you fill it ends up filling the entire page. Maybe I need to get a tablet...

Thanks anyway. I know I'm going to use the tutorial.
