Description
Please note: This is a PMD editor tutorial, if you have PMX editor, some of your screens will look slightly different. The method still holds true, but it may not look exactly like my screens hereFor the copy/paste:
Japanese name: センター
This is for Kitsune-HalfBreed91 who asked how to add a centre bone. I hope this is clearer than my writing.~

Ok, I am having a similar kind of problem.
I have a model, it's center bone works fine.
the problem?
you know when you register a bone, a diamond shows up in the slot, and
each registered bone has a slot in the time line?
(example: IK bone section -> Center Bone time slot)
this model has an IK Slot, but there is no Center bone.
when I register Center bone, no diamond shows up in the frame manipulation thing.
where there is supposed to be:
IK
|
V
Center Bone
Leg IK_L
Leg IK_R
Toe IK_L
Toe IK_R
This model has:
IK
|
V
Leg IK_L
Leg IK_R
Toe IK_L
Toe IK_R
How do I add the center bone in the Frame manipulation thing?

My model has center bone between feet. I followed the steps, I added the motherbone, but when I load it in MMD... Still stuck at the center -_-

Little confused about your point. This tutorial is to add a centre bone, not a mother bone. What are you having problems with?

Thanks Now, my model is completly done ! To me, the most difficult bones are the leg IK. (They're so helpful, but so hard to make !)

Hello, I'm not really sure if this is related to what your showing here but i think its the closest thing to my issue and I'm hoping you can help me. Some of the models I have downloaded wont bend at the knees! But the thing is they just don't bend in the motions, they bend just fine in the PMX editor when I move the center bone around. Is this because of some translation issue between the programs of which bone is the center one? Do I need to rename the Center bone or something?
I'm sorry for bothering you but I just cant seems to find a answer to this. I hope you may know what my problem is. Thank you. -_-

Do you still need help? Cuz I might be able to help a bit. If its an x file and you're using pmd I don't think you're supposed to use an import button to add it, if that's what your doing. The way Ido it and how seen others do it is you open a window showing where the x file is. Then make it small so you can see the other windows. Then you drag the file into pmd editor. A box thing should show up and I believe you click the second bubble, the one below the one preselected. Then you should see your model. Hope this helped somehow.

Can you help me with something else? When I try to make my model dance, the model stays at the center but the legs move away. It doesn't move around freely.

Well that's strange. I've never encountered that problem myself so I can't give the best advice I suppose. It might be a bit easier to help if I could actually see what's wrong

You probably need to change the numbers on the feet IK bones as well, sometimes it works this on it's own but sometimes it doesn't.
If you have a mother bone, on each of the feet IK bones you need to change the top number in the box to 0. If you don't have a mother bone change them to -1
I hope that works

My model has two upper body bones, do I connect both them and the lower body bone to the center bone?

MissingPixieSticks In reply to KurenaiHikaru [2014-01-13 20:21:11 +0000 UTC]
If you have two, then the top upper body bone should be connected to the bottom upper body bone. Then the bottom upper body bone, along with the lower body bone should be connected to the centre bone.
Hope that made sense @_@

Yes, that did make sence but the only problem I have now is that when I did that, she disapeared when I loaded her into MMD.

Ok, I did everything you said in the tutorial but the center bone acts like a mother bone and there is no mother bone there. What should I do?

Um :. the Center bone allows then to move their center postion right? so if a motion is supposed to move the model to the right they should go there... :/ i did eveything you said in the tutorial and the model doesnt move from the center when the motion wants it to go to the right to begin... the model has a mother bone i think. idk what the mother bone is though
could you help me?

MissingPixieSticks In reply to anime13freak [2012-11-13 03:43:30 +0000 UTC]
The mother bone is one that controls the whole model. It moves all the IK bones. The centre bone moves just the body, and leaves the feet IK bones where they are, hope that helps
