Description
Kevin Ryman, possibly the greatest character of the Outbreak series is one of the few survivors of the Raccoon City Police Department (RPD).Before the fall of the RPD Station, Kevin and his fellow survivors must search for a way to escape. The outside gates are swarming with zombies threatening to bust them down and devour everyone in sight.
I decided Kevin in front of the swarmed gates holding the M-16 Assault Rifle you can find in the Garage Access Ramp on the lower level since it works the best against the swarm besides the magnum.
The one disappointment I have in the Resident Evil games in general is that they have never had zombie kids as enemies except during the cut scenes so I threw in one among the crowd. Also, why aren't there any zombie cats? We constanmtly have to fight zombie dogs, where are all the cats?
Anyway, I used inkwash on brush and pen ink as well as used paintshop to add some details.

He is kind of a bad ass in the Resident Evil Outbreak games. He's one of the only characters that starts out with a gun and he has some pretty good melee attacks.Β
Thank you

I dig me some Outbreak, but its hard to pick when you have all the games. lol
My personal favorite character is Chris, my favorite RE game is Resident Evil 3.

I love the Outbreak series. I wish they would remake it or make a sequel to it using the Operation Raccoon City engine. That would be freaking amazing.Β
I pretty much love all the main characters in the games. The only Resident Evil games I hate are Gaiden, Darkside Chronicles, Umbrella Chronicles and RE5. RE3 and Code Veronica X are my favorites in the series.Β

I also liked Operation Raccoon City.... it wasn't that bad of a game.
For what it was, I dig Gaiden, it was more playable than the Resident Evil 1 GBC port. I played the prototype rom and oh man, so buggy, but a good effort. Now my favorites go from best to least: RE3, REmake, Code Veronica, 6 and finallyΒ the original. Character wise, Chris andΒ Claire are my top two, Jill being a close third and Leon trailing behind at fourth. But we cant forget about Barry, Billy and HUNK.

I think what pissed most people off about the game was Capcom decided to only release a half finished game and then charge us for the other half of it. It was just a huge dick move on their part. Had they just given us all the USS and Spec Ops missions on one disk or on a two disk set people wouldn't have been so angry about it and I think the game would have done better sales wise.Β
I liked the story in Gaiden but I really disliked the game play. I just hate any game that makes you use one of those sweeping cursor things that you have to hit the button at the right moment to do damage. It doesn't belong in a survival horror game in my opinion.Β
REMake was the only reason I got a Game Cube besides RE4 and RE Zero. I really wish they would port REmake to PS3 or PS4.

That indeed did bug me, but what gets me is that a lot of people complained of glitches that nearly broke the game. (I've at least haven't encountered any, I don't know about others.) But yes, the Spec Ops missions as dlc really did upset me.
Now Gaiden I can tolerate, I don't like the game play but the story was a cool 'what if' scenario. Speaking of what if's, have you seen the Chinese Resident Evil 2 comics? They're totally insane, like Dinosaurs and mechs, magic and other weirdness.
I know! REmake was so awesome, I hope the potential RE 2 & 3 remakes are like that.

The only glitch I encountered happened at the power station. Some of the zombies spawned on top of the generators but they pretty much floated in air while walking and couldn't get to me so in a way I was thankful for that glitch. Other than that the game was pretty smooth.
Yeah I mean they essentially charged us full price for an incomplete game and then charged us again to get the rest of it. They pulled the same crap with Marvel Vs Capcom 3 and RE5 and then came out with Gold or Ultimate editions of the games with all the DLC stuff in them which pissed off everyone that paid for the DLC stuff.Β
I've seen several of the Resident Evil comics mostly the adaption of Code Veronica X where Chris actually punches a hunter to death and a RE2/RE3 adaption where Nemesis fought G1 Birkin and Carlos fought Nicholai in some weird ass martial arts battle. Oh and the RE Zero one where Billy goes Super Saiyan and is thunder punching monkeys and shit like that. They are total insanity and I love them
I think if they do a RE2 remake they should go back to what was canon for over a decade and keep the story line Leon A and Claire B. I hate when they jack around the story elements for no reason.

I actually think Operation Raccoon City is one of my favorites now that I think about it. I digged playing as the opposing team, it was a nice turn of events. The endings could've been alot better though.
Well thats Capcom for you, or at least, MODERN Capcom. I dont even bother with their games unless its Resident Evil now. Hell, the sixth version of Street Fighter IV is coming out this year.
The Chinese Resident Evil 3 comic has alot of moments where they explain events happening in Resident Evil 2 is because of Carlos, like when he's getting the vaccine for Jill, he runs into Leon who just happens to be getting the same vaccine for Ada, but it's an infinitely better adaptation then the previous Resident Evil 2 comic. That one didn't know what it wanted to bed, it had zombies, robots, dragons, gods and alot of shit that one would expect of Final Fantasy. Its a horrid Resident Evil adaptation because they throw generic anime cliches left and right (even though the "destined" duel between Leon and Chris is really kickass. Heck, Leon essentially becomes a G-Virus TERMINATOR.), but its fun to check out for the cheesey goodness. Anyways, if you wanna check out the full comics, I have a link for em if you'd like. Oh also, you should check out the Biohazard X comic, its unofficial but I consider it at sequel to the Resident Evil 2 comic because of the continued adventures of who I THINK are Leon and Ada.
Personally, I think the chinese Resident Evil 3 comic and Operation Raccoon City had the right idea, put both games together in a single narrative. While some may call back to Resident Evil 6 and be apprehensive, I think if they got the right people to do it, it could work. I mean, wouldn't it be killer if you had a section where Leon, Claire, and Jill fought Nemesis while Carlos is trying to fend off Birkin?

The thing I loved best about ORC was being able to play it with my friends and my girlfriend online. I agree with you about the endings. I guess they thought there would be a sequel by the way they let them end, especially the Spec Ops ending but who knows if they'll ever make a new one.
I'm pretty much the same. I only buy a few titles on a regular basis. Resident Evil, Uncharted and GTA are probably the only ones I buy unless a really good superhero one comes out like Marvel Ultimate Alliance.Β
I've seen some of the comics your mentioning. A friend sent me a link to them a while ago. I thought it was cool seeing them create a solid story combining RE2 and RE3 but when they get all goofy with the martial arts and crazy shit I'm out. Its like how the US Resident Evil Comic Magazine threw in a story where Jill went undercover at Raccoon City High and was attacked by a werewolf. I mean really? They chose Jill over Rebecca to go undercover in a high school?
Honestly I think having too much main character crossover dilutes the story lines of both games and sort of removes the drama if all of a sudden Leon and Claire realize they weren't the only survivors left in the city or if Jill has Leon, Carlos and Claire helping her fend off Nemesis, Nemesis loses his threat factor and Jill seems weaker for needing to have a small unit helping her survive. It just seems like it would ruin the drama and tension of those original games.
I think Outbreak did a better job of showing the events of RE2 and RE3 from different perspectives without ruining what happened in previous games. It weaved itself in-between things without pissing all over the established continuity.Β
Personally I think had they made a new Outbreak on the ORC engine it would have been amazing and they could have had it live up to its original promise of fans making teams of survivors and making their way through Raccoon City.Β

Well, supposedly there is a rumor going 'round that there will be a sequel to ORCΒ with Barry Burton as a main character, but it may just be that, a rumor.

Speaking of that comic, was that intended to be an ACTUAL Werewolf? That comic still confuses me toΒ this day.

I try not to put too much faith in rumors about Resident Evil. Like I still remember the rumor that Nemesis was really a mutated Wesker and that Operation Raccoon City had a "build a character" option. My all time favorite was the one PlayStation Magazine started when they did an April Fool's prank claiming if you won RE2 with the best rating a certain number of times you could unlock Akuma from Street Fighter. They even faked game play photos of him throwing fireballs into zombie cops in the RPD. Even after the magazine published it was a prank people still kept posting this Akuma thing as if it were real on the internet.
Yeah from what I can gather it was supposed to be an actual werewolf. I guess they were going for the old horror magazine comic vibe and throwing in supernatural stories on top of the normal RE monster stuff.
I know, I mean they finally got the online tech perfected to make Outbreak be a team game like it was meant to be. I don't understand why they won't just bring it back and give the fans what they want since the game still has a pretty strong following.

Same here, however sometimes,Β it feels good to see that people want there to be continuations of the series.
Β
Well, there was a Supernatural event in Outbreak 2 I believe. It involved the Axe Mans wife and Alyssa if I'm not mistaken. I cant remember what happened exactly, so I'm going to look more into it tonight.
Β
Regarding Outbreak, I wished for one thing, the addition of Birkin and Nemesis fights. Thats all. But the online was amazing, and if I'm not mistaken, didnt they open up servers again in Japan?
π: 1 β©: 1
MJMJR In reply to InfinityDeimos [2014-01-13 23:30:45 +0000 UTC]
The supernatural event in Outbreak takes place at J's Bar. It's supposed to be haunted. When you go into the wine storage room you will either hear a woman's scream or a bottle will randomly roll off a table and smash.Β
The Ax Man level wasn't supernatural. His wife became the host for that mutated plant in the hospital and the ax man thinks the plant is his wife returned to life when in reality the plant is sort of a smarter version of Plant 42 from the original Resident Evil. The thing is because of his exposure to the plant he's also mutated giving him superhuman endurance, strength and he can't be injured easily. He's like Wolverine without the metal bones and claws.
Alyssa had amnesia about the events she witnessed at the hospital before the outbreak. So when she goes back there during the outbreak she starts having flashbacks that piece together the connection between the hospital, the Ax Man, his wife and Umbrella's experiments there. That's why its called Flashback in the menu.
