Description
This almost killed me. :/ But I hope it helps you and others who want to use these programs but don't know how to install the program.Sorry that it gets repetitive at times. But that's all you need to do; download the needed components, download the program in .zip file form, unzip the .zip file/copy and paste the files and run the program.
I've added all the Set Up downloads in the description if for some reason you cannot click them. However, please remember that I am not the link fairy. If something doesn't work for your system then google another version of it e.g. x64bit/x86bit. I am also not responsible for making sure links are working.
Likewise you can also google PMDeditor or MMD and you will probably find links to the programs. Again I am not the link fairy.
ALSO FOR PMXEDITOR
When you go to click it and open it, it will take a while to load, and it will probably result in error dialogues (missing .dll's) when it is opening. Just close the windows and PMXeditor should open as normal.
Note: If one download doesn't get one of the programs to work e.g. PMDeditor, then it won't hurt to install another package e.g. .NET Framework 3.5 (Package includes 2.0) and .NET Framework 3.5 (Service Pack 1).
Your computer will tell you if somethings already installed on it, so don't worry about it overwriting something important because it won't. It'll just cancel the installation if it already has the following programs installed on it.
That's what kept happening with me with Windows7 and PMXeditor. I had everything needed for it to work, I just needed SlimXD.
Downloads
Please note that latest computers may have all the .NET Framework's already installed on the system. My Windows7 does.

So if I were to rename a pmd to a pmx it would be english

PMD was the first model format for MMD, and is relatively basic. PMX is the newer model format for MMD, which has a lot of new features like outlines with colours that aren't black and sliders to move bones.
It has nothing to do with language.

My pmx editor is not working, it loads models for about three seconds before it freezes, and then my whole computer freezes, any idea what is going wrong? also i am currently running windows 8

I had that problem too, but it was kind of different. A few days ago I could run PMX Editor with no problems, but now it dies the same stuff that you spoke of. I am running on Windows 8, so do I just wait until an updated PMX editor comes out?

Well, I may be able to help you out. Some models have to many physics or bones, or the model could be so complex that it is unable to load. Also, are you absolutely sure that the .pmx name is at the end of the file and not .pmd?

bioweapon797 In reply to Some-Crimson-Rose [2015-08-08 17:48:52 +0000 UTC]
Yes, i think i figured out the problem, and a solution of sorts. The PMX editors were all made on the directX 9.0.0c platform, and while they say DX11 is backwards compatable, it fails to be compatable completely, sadly one of the files it doesnt have is needed to run PMX editors.
the work around i found was to use PMD editor 139, because its a pmd editor that had pmx introduced into it, so its PMX before it became reliant on the DX9 files... doesnt have everything the newer pmx editors have, but it should work for anyone who buys a new windows 8 computer and runs into my same problems
(( when you buy a new computer with windows 8, it comes with DX11 built into the OS, so it cant be deleted, and the installers for DX9 will refuse to download since you have a newer version installed))

Yes, since DX11 is the latest, it obviously would come in Windows 8.
I run on Win10, yet PMX works fine, even if i have DX9 on it, I think it just depends which model, and what specific version of the OS it is.Β
I do believe there is a way to work around the installers refusing to let you install DX9.Β
PMX should hopefully be getting an update at one point for DX11. But,, I'm glad you figured it out!Β Β
Although if you have any problems i could possibly help!Β

have you tried pmd editor 1.3.9 yet? it might work for you like it did for me, not a perfect fix but it will allow you to make pmx models till the next pmx update fixes it ( hopefully)

I really need help ;-;

Some-Crimson-Rose In reply to ToriaDion [2015-08-07 00:02:18 +0000 UTC]
There is a version of pmd that has pmx built in with it. You have to search for it, since it was quite difficult for me to find it myself. If you switch pmx to pmd in that program, you can save it as a pmd.Β

I'm too scared to download mme for mmd Β and pmx editor, because it might download a virus, so i downloaded it from a youtuber that's really good at animating, but if you're downloading something make sure you check it out and make sure the person is very trusted, and the website is trusted, and ask your dad for permission to download things, but make sure it's safe.

For windows 8 Users trying to get PMX:
Download everything said in the tut!
the Direct 9x, should go just fine. This is for MMD and it helps PMX
When you download the 4.0 net frame chances will say "You already have this" but doesn't hurt to double check. Make sure you try it.
The CC+ YOU SHOULD HAVE THIS ALREADY however, when I downloaded it, it asked me if I wanted to re download or FIX MY FILES
if you get this option CLICK FIX! Your CC+ is missing certain items needed for PMX
SlimDX also downloads just fine!

SubaruTheCake In reply to Griffonmender [2015-02-11 00:35:39 +0000 UTC]
MMM stands for MikuMikuMoving, it's basically MMD with a nice interface, it looks really good, though I haven't used it much. I usually just use MMD since MMM doesn't wanna open on my current computer. I had it on my last one, but it never seemed to work quite right, but I think that's because the computer was REALLY old and wouldn't really do anything anymore.
