Tari is a Super-Earth sized planet orbiting the star Kepler-22 in the Cygnus Constellation. Originally known as Kepler-22b, Tari was formally named with the discovery of sentient life. The semi-aquatic Fasi race were among the first encountered by the Thillians during their Galaxy-wide search for intelligent life, an encounter that occurred over six-thousand years ago. Much like the Seqari, the Fasi only developed as a civilisation thanks to Thillian technology, which allowed them to construct vast surface and subsurface cities and to mine the seafloor for resources. Given the amount of time required to construct such unique habitats, the Fasi did not focus on manned space exploration for millenia. By the time they set about investigating their three moons, Tarrus-1, -2 and -3, they discovered the Seqari had already arrived on the latter and established colonial mining operations. Tarrus-3 is roughly half the size of Earth, and the only satellite of Tari with a breathable atmosphere. While the two races co-operated for centuries, tensions became strained and eventually volatile. In early 2076 the Tarrus Colonial Mining Authority's then supervisor, Kalza col Nas'Motu, deceived locals by underestimating the amount of minerals to be mined, securing the land for a fraction of its actual price. This sparked outrage among Fasi ultranationalists, who went as far as to hire Maktharian mercenaries, thus initiating the Resource War.
By this time humanity had integrated into the System, and participated in its first interstellar conflict on the side of the Seqari. While most action took place on Tarrus-3, the war spilled onto Tari as well. Reports of the Maktharian leader Sevyok'Krug hiding in the second city Deku led INF-banner special forces, including Ravens, to assault the city. While Krug was not found, the combat with his remaining forces took a heavy toll when the Makthar detonated pre-positioned bombs, causing part of the city to collapse into the sea.
