I have to admit, I will always be happy to see more Minhelm in any form. I'm positively ecstatic she'll be getting her own Scattered Shots! I can't really peg why, but she always just seemed to have so much meaning to her demeanor; everything you show her doing always appears exceptionally deliberate, full of intention and...Β je ne sais quoi. Even beyond the Kriegers, she's the kind of person you'd expect to get things *done* no questions asked.
I very much agree with SirWilson on the topic of the weight you've been able to add. There's more to depth than simply shading, but whether you know it or not you've been progressively getting better at creating it in many ways, one of which is gravity. Many of your original drawings are flat simply because one form of material fit a character in the same way as any other material, but with what you've done here the thickness of the jacket is beautifully tangible. I recall many hours spent in high school sweating in the damned things to the point of ruining the metal on my snare drum, and regardless of whether or not it's a conscious thing for you, you've hit it perfect with many points; the trim on the collar makes it plainly obvious how heavy it is, in addition to the lip of the cuffs and the length (or lack thereof) of creases around the belt. She's a light girl in a heavy suit, and it carries across well.
I personally feel that her hair color and eye tattoo are, in a way, very much in keeping with Iron Guard tradition. If I recall, the old "Cover is for Cowards" bit is the direct reason for their exceptionally flashy uniforms and pompous fighting style. Everything they do is very regimental, but just because they are disciplined does not mean they are unnoticeable. In reality, I would think being noticed is a very real goal for the Iron Guard, in every way. Stoic and mechanical as they may be, they are attention grabbers compared to many other Guard regiments; their stylistic choices and dogged tactics practically scream for the enemy to stare in both awe and fear at their overwhelming determination.
But this is *exactly* what you capture in Minhelm, at least on the outside. What would your first reaction be to meeting Minhelm in the real world? Fifty bucks says the majority of people would be taken aback in one way or another by the eye tattoo and hair, probably causing hesitation at the very least. In battle, both articles would be just as effective (if not more) as the uniform and demeanor in capturing and keeping attention on her, whether it be amazement, appreciation, or terror instilled in enemy and ally alike. Rebellious? I don't think that's the intention. Meaningful? Probably. Effective characterization? Absolutely.
Maybe I'm just injecting too much symbolism into your use of artistic license. But hey, you're the one that made me think it, so I should thank you either way.

There is a certain something about her. Amidst all the soldiers an stoicism hers seems amongst the most serious but also, to me it feels the most like its her job. One that she does unwaveringly but one that is separate from who she is.
Raege is always a certain way. A basic, uncomplicated grunt and a killer. Just slightly dressed up.Β
Minhelm has far better conduct and manner than Raege but it feels like shes that way because of her good training, and her loyalty to her mission rather than it being what makes her.

Minhelm looks tall until you stand someone next to her, or realize that that is a short and slim chainsword. (normal people use them for working in tight quarters, she uses them as standard)

My blocking and continuity Β tends to be pretty bad but you can see that when shes walking with Boone and Nel, she's closer to Boones height than Nels.

YES! That's how I always viewed them.Β
I've heard that they're actually based on Prussians or something, but between their discipline, manner and pageantry, I see them as dress uniform Marines. They are one of guardsmen units that I imagine having an American accent.

This is a fun one!
The clarification that Lara has abnormally large eyes is welcome because it helps differentiate her from other characters in terms of face structure.Β It also sets up potential for character interpretation which is always good.
You've really managed to nail giving different characters different builds in spite of all but a few of them having to be by default in at least okay physical shape as front line soldiers and all.Β even with absolutely no reference save possibly her chain sword you make it clear that Minhelm is a smaller woman.Β Just the way you draw her limbs goes a long way towards that.Β Not scrawny, but slightly petite and it's even in line with her calendar page and sprite from the game, both of which agree on the build.Β Her chain sword also implies her size effectively yet subtlety since you don't notice it at first, but for it to reach her belt buckle when placed tip down it is huge...and it's that way in boonequest too so that's clearly intentional....god she must devastate when she has both hands dedicated to that thing.
Her being one of the less busty members of the crew is also cool to see.Β Her calendar page shows us that her bust itself isn't that big and it provides a difference to the generally chesty membership of the Ragged Edges.
Overall I think you've come a long way in recent times with 'weight' as well.Β I mean actual effects of gravity on things, I think the fact that her sleeves hang from her forearms and wrists is just a thing of beauty.Β Her hands also came out nice so that's great too.
I'd also like to point out how great her shoulders look.Β You can tell that her shoulders are smoothly curved behind the epaulets and not square like say...Conrad's or Zune's broader ones yet at the same time the ornaments hang properly, as a well fitted uniform should.

I struggled, and still struggle, with drawing Minhelm as essentially she started (rather obviously, I still feel) as a early design for Raege herself (who, way back when - was Mordian).
Things actually clicked into place when I was doing her second calendar page (where, ironically I drew her pretty badly) and the photographer described her as 'boney' and I was seized by this clear image of a woman, maybe 5'6" who was kinda rangy and slender and actually had difficulty adding or maintaining mass of any sort. Which is actually apparently accurate for hivers. Which she almost certainly is.
I'm glad you like this one. I do to, in spite of it numerous problems.

To be fair a Moridian with an eye tattoo and purple hair kinda screams a quiet personal rebellion against the Iron Guard's iconic Iron Discipline, all while staying within the lines of regulations by the slightest of margins.Β At least that's what I get out of it.Β I could even see that being DUE to her recently clarified abnormal facial structure.Β A bit like Bubba in Forest Gump and his big lip or Private Pile in Full Metal Jacket's glazed resting look I could see Lara having a constant hard time from instructors and inspectors thinking she's making a face or just not liking her inability to aesthetically blend with other recruits.Β It'd be real easy to think she is giving you bug eyes when she is just a statistical outlier.Β Getting a tat that only draws more attention to her eyes as a way of owning it later in life sounds pretty solid to me.
Also I agree with The Farseer.Β Open high collars are great and she rocks it.

Minhelm is meant to have abnormally large eyes, even within the art style, so she looks even more stylized.
We will get the story on her eye tattoo in the 20 or so pages we're going to get about her life.
