Description

This is a scenario in which the Woodcrafters and social Gravediggers enter a “Stargate”, a portal (like the nether portals of Minecraft) and are teleported through time and space towards earth.

The wind up on OTL earth in the 27th June of 1982 in the Ottawa valley in Canada, a location with a suitable climate for them. Well unlike their home it has strong seasonal variation instead of a day to night temperature variation, but they can adjust to that easily.

Here we see the first contact, some guy with a car (today as of 2024 this kind of car is considered outdated) stumbles upon them as the first human to do so, and they look at each other in confusion.

One woodcrafter is marveling at the huge trees that grow in this strange new place, because in their home world the forest are dying from the ice age cold and trees this large are no longer something they have there. The Social gravediggers meanwhile are investigating the strange black rock (actually a road, but they haven’t seen such a thing in their lives yet).

I think the guy who encountered them first would be very confused, and call the cops or something like that.

The Woodcrafters and social Gravediggers would initially be quarantined by the humans until they found that the Woodcrafters and Gravediggers had no harmful pathogens. Then the humans allow them to stay on Earth in small rural communities. Like the Amish. When they figure out that Earth isn’t dying like their homeworld they have a huge celebration and it becomes a tradition. Every village has a sacred gate tree the Woodcrafters shaped to look a bit like the Stargate and part of the festival is they walk through the sacred gate tree into a clearing in the woods and they dance. It´s a holiday they take very seriously.

in 1984 humans get included in the celebration when a teenage boy is out hiking in the woods and comes across one such celebration and waves to the woodcrafters and gravediggers. This starts a tradition where humans stand on the other side of the sacred gate tree and welcome them woodcrafters and gravediggers in. They even have human musicians playing at these celebrations. It´s usually a stringband with fiddles and banjos.

It woul be intersting to see if the appearance of Woodcrafters and social Gravediggers would be influenced by events of the cold war.
Maybe the soviet Union gets their own serinian sophonts in the form of Daydreamers that passed through another stargate located inside the sea?
