Description My comic attracts a rather tight-knit group of people, mainly from the U.S., Germany and Russia (about 500 or so in total, I think, among the regulars), and they all have very strong opinions when it comes to my engineering designs. This one, a robotic missile submarine, was rather harshly panned by one of the regulars, as looking too much like a spaceship, and being totally impractical as an actual submarine.

Well, fine. But I still like it. It has a very sleek, tough look to it. And all those missile tubes... well, what can I say? I build houses, not submarines. It looked pretty good to me!

This thing is awesome, you could make the first 2-4 tubes launch stealth attack uavs. Launch them like missiles with their intakes closed then once they're out of the water pop open the intakes and have a 2nd rocket to get them fast enough for there engines to start. Could have a recovery arm in between the missile tubes up top.

Not a bad idea at all.Β  I'll submit it to the UNA Security Council!

Actually, these guys show up at the end of Chapter 2 of my comic, briefly, as part of the Mexican navy launching a counterattack on the Federated Socialist Republics.

She.Β  And yes, she is a Major.Β  And sorry to answer "in character," it's just that most people who comment on my artwork are already familiar with the comic - so, serves me right for making assumptions.

Hey don't feel bad I just skimmed through it, what type of programs do you use to make all of it? Like I said I'm new to all of this, I have a lot of good idea's but i don't know how to take them from paper sketches to finished designs on here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I sketch on paper with a pencil.Β  Actually, with 3" x3" post-it notes that I stick in a notebook for later.Β  Once I have a tiny sketch worked out I sick it up next to my computer and try to reproduce it with my tablet in Photoshop.Β  Then I refine the sketch, and then I go over it with smooth lines and colors, and letter all the dialogue.Β  As far as getting ideas realized, well, I understand the feeling.Β  But basically the only thing to do is sit down and start drawing.Β  In fact, that's what I'm doing right now!

Yeah I have a big notebook that I thought I needed for school but didn't,now it's where I pour all my ideas. I've been looking at different programs but everybody says Photoshop is one of the best so I might try that.

Photoshop is expensive and takes a lot of practice to use. For starters you may be as well served using pen and paper, which is cheaper. My work with Photoshop is relatively recent in the span of my career - I worked on Bristol board with ink and pencils for close to ten years, and still do much of my professional architectural work that way.

That's all anyone needs is for a computer travelling in secret with missiles on board. I realize it's only fantasy, but still...

Personally, I like the look and think it fits well as a drone type unmanned unit.

I see no reason it wouldn't work as a submarine - though it would be noisy......

As an Ex-ASW Frigate sailor, I love it! Great 'target'.......

If it wasn't marked as "submarine", I would swear it was a stellar based missle frigate.!

Eff it--I'm still putting it in my "Spaceship" folder!
