okay...take that a bit further and i can probably comment on it...i don't want to muddy the waters with what i intended- i'd like to hear what you take from it first...

These last two scupts are great. I like the little details, like the scenic panels in their stomachs and the held items. The rhino-esque hood on this guy is a nice touch. Good color choices as well.

Your work is always so original, and your style is very pronounced. I'd always be able to pick out your work in a crowd. Assuming sculptures formed crowds.

I love the head in this guys hand. Is that a propeller or a wind-up key lodged in its skull?

It's a wind-up key, but many people have mistaken it for a propeller. I think if i were to sculpt it again i would put holes in the "wing" parts to make it look like the old fashioned keys- but i was afraid that it would weaken the structure and allow them to snap off...either way it's a gamble. Meaning vs. structure...that's what it's always about.

I think the confusion comes from the fact that it's on the top of the head. So people think that it's got a propeller cap on or something. But the shape of it definitely gives the impression of a wind-up key.

that's a really good point...i didn't see that. Not too much chance that i'll resculpt this one- but it's something to keep in mind on the next one.

Heck, I wouldn't change it even if I had the chance. As you said, holes in the key might weaken that fragile part. Keeping the scultpure in one piece is more important.
