I love how "Real" the faces look on all of your sculptures, they're drawings come to life as far as I can see. At least to me

The underglaze is the "velvet" series by the company Amaco. The slips are ones that i mix up myself in the studio. I would be happy to post the recipe if you would like to try to make up your own batch. The ingredients are very common at any ceramics supply store- but you'll need a triple beam balance to get the portions right (ceramic recipes are done by weight of dry components). I'm on the road right now, but i will post the recipe when i get home if you are interested in it.

Wonderful, wonderful... the slight hunch gives just the right 'chilled' impression, much more than the clothes and the blue could do on their own. I can almost see him shiver. o.o

Oh! I saw this on your homepage and fell in love with the poor little freezing fellow. I know just how he feels, since the winters here are bitter cold.
It's amazing how much character and feeling your sculptures have. Like this fellow, he looks so cold and lost, and yet he has a certain strength to him, he's not yet given up, even if things do look rather bleak.
Such a darling thing.

the real irony is that he spent about 12 hours in a kiln reaching a temp of 1923 degrees in order to get that blue color...
...you'd think he'd have gotten rid of the scarf.
