Beautiful image. The coloration (especially the person!) gives a very ghost-like feel to this. It's awesome!

Wow, thats really beautifully shot ^_^ Its almost abstract! It reminds me of the old icons for some reason o.o except alot prettier ^^ Oh, and when I first saw it, it reminded me of that movie "Dark Water" XD

So mysterious, the vignetting really adds to it! I wonder what that disturbance is there?

12monthsOFwinter [2006-02-15 06:17:07 +0000 UTC]

This actually frightens me a bit and I'm a good swimmer- won't swim in the ocean however. My sister would probably be freaked because she won't swim in water she can't touch bottom in on a bob...

Ya, this is really evocative of fear of water and the mysterious unknown of unconsciousness...this is the first picture I have ever seen on this site that made me go cold...nifty job!

Thanks for the great comment! I'm terrified of deep water! So this image is scary to me too!

Your gallery is very nice. Looks like you are a woman of many skills!

Your most welcome- this is really one of those pictures that to my mind should get more recognition- there is a strong universality about it...
I just realized now that it's a photomanip (you got a lot of comments on this!) It was clever of you (unknowingly or not) to remove the head/face- this could be any man/woman/child who feels fear of the unkown...out of curiosity, is this woman swimming in a lake or an ocean?

And thank you for the complements...I try but often stretch myself to thin!

myrnajacobs In reply to 12monthsOFwinter [2006-02-16 06:15:27 +0000 UTC]

stretched too thin? Your work didn't look that way.

12monthsOFwinter In reply to myrnajacobs [2006-02-16 22:04:18 +0000 UTC]

I think I could be really good at one or two things but then distractions come up - photography and computer graphics which I'm pretty decent at are actually interferring with my desire to sketch and paint....and tutorials, forums, and website resdesigning get in the way of the first things I mentioned!

But thankyou for saying otherwise-makes me feel like I'm not kidding myself too much!

myrnajacobs In reply to 12monthsOFwinter [2006-02-16 22:35:30 +0000 UTC]

I am trying to re-learn how to paint. I never was very good, but I'm finding it amazingly difficult to get what I want on canvas. Maybe I'm just too used to the instant results to be had in PS or other Adobe programs. sigh...

12monthsOFwinter In reply to myrnajacobs [2006-02-18 06:31:39 +0000 UTC]

I'll bet! And that lovely 'undo' button is so handy not to mention 'save file as' for multiple versions of the art. Also, no mess to worry about or clean up after...!

I think there is a fear of cost as well (for me anyway). Art supplies are expensive and require a more dedicated effort to master- paints and coloured pencils anyway. Even more important is a private place to work in with no distractions- only some music maybe....sigh X 10

myrnajacobs In reply to 12monthsOFwinter [2006-02-18 17:11:58 +0000 UTC]

the private place has been a problem for me in the past but I have the run of the house and set up ALL my art supplies in one room now. My husband is out doing music stuff a lot of this winter, so I'm free to use all the space I want.

12monthsOFwinter In reply to myrnajacobs [2006-02-18 19:02:08 +0000 UTC]

You lucky thing! This is the biggest obstacle for most people- I really believe that- is not having a private space to work in - a studio as it's properly called.
I can't think of a better set-up to relearn traditional art...I hope you take full advantage of it and just let yourself free to delve back into painting without worrying about anything except expressing yourself to your satisfaction- without the computer around!

Wowzers. I love the light spot in the middle. Mayhap it's just me, but it kinda looks like a little perched angel. 'Least, that's what I saw. Loverly, as always!

That's very cool, especially the vigenetting, really adds to the scene, which somehow reminds me of a horror flick, "What Lies Beneath" or whatever it was called, the one with Harrison Ford
