Description
Looking to enhance the line quality of your art? Look no further!Inkscape is a free vectoring program that can help you vector. If you're frugal it's the way to go. I find it simplier to use than Flash in terms of vectoring.
And yes I do find Rosemary Divinity to be sexy.
Go to inkscape.org to get Inkscape. Go to GIMP.org to get GIMP.

After I click 'ok' on the trace bitmap box, nothing appears to happen to my picture. Is there another window somewhere or another file it goes to?

You gotta remove the background that is being traced.

When I use trace, I get a gray background. What happened?

This: [link] Maybe it's the line thickness or something.

Well you probably selected something wrong it should only trace the line art (which is just black anyway).

I can't believe that was that easy! I used inkscape before, for vectoring, but what I do is the pen tool and stuff. thanks for the tut! fav!

Inkscape can save as .png or .jpg just fine. Just go to "export" in the file menu instead of save.

Coming in kind of late, but photoshop IS capable of reading .eps format, so if you save it as that, you can open it in photoshop you just won't be able to see a preview image in whatever folder you put it in.

I dunno, I have photoshop elements 5... and also with my version of inkscape, at least, you can just export it, and it will save as a .png file as well.

Aye, Inkscape has much untouched potential.

Inkscape can save to png, jpeg, et al. You just have to select "Export to Bitmap" rather than the standard save operation. This is because pixelated formats are inherently different from vector formats. Still a minor annoyance I'll grant you.
